Rob Ryan looks like a gentleman that might enjoy an adult beverage from time to time.

The New Orleans Saints‘ defensive coordinator got all riled up on the sidelines while performing his duties this past Sunday, and who could blame him? His defense held the favored Atlanta Falcons out of the end zone with a late-game goal line stand to give the Saints a huge early season win. To celebrate, Ryan decided to head to a local New Orleans’ watering hole for a tasty beverage.

In addition to the drink he bought himself, Ryan also slapped a Ben Franklin on the bar and bought every patron a round.

Here’s what Ms. Mae’s bartender Jason Matherne had to say about Ryan’s appearance and subsequent nice gesture:

“When he walked in the whole bar clapped. He put down 100 bucks and was like buy everybody a round and keep the change. In here, that’s like a fortune. We think it’s pretty cool that he’s so down to Earth. He comes in and gets Rolling Rock. He doesn’t drink anything fancy. He drinks the cheapest beer we have.”

Ms. Mae’s is apparently a local, non-tourist, bar and known for being a dive. This story just reinforces the notion that Ryan is a down to Earth guy, even though his personality on the field would lead you to believe otherwise.
