NBA Hall-of-Famer and Auburn alum Charles Barkley, is always good for a fantastic quote. The guy doesn’t have much of a filter and that’s why sports fans across the country love him. Barkley recently made an appearance on the Waddle and Silvy show and had this to say on college football’s most polarizing player, Johnny Manziel:
“Johnny Manziel is annoying me so much that I am really close to saying Roll Tide. They’re (Auburn fans) not going to be happy, but Johnny Manziel, oh my God, the only thing saving Johnny Manziel is Miley Cyrus. I mean, are you kidding me? That’s the only thing.”
Classic Sir Charles, to say the least.
The thing about Barkley was that he could talk the talk, just as well as he could walk the walk. Sir Charles has always talked a lot of smack, but he could back every bit of it up. Today’s generation only knows him as an analyst for TNT, but for those that saw him play, they know what a beast he was on the hardwood. He wasn’t afraid to say anything to anyone, but he almost always backed it up.
Manziel is in a different situation, because he really hasn’t been running his mouth. But he has been speaking very loudly with his actions. The QB is in a position this Saturday where he’s going to have to step up and get it done on the football field. If he can beat Alabama or at least play really well in defeat, the Heisman trophy winner will at least earn the respect of many that are hating on him at this time.
