Muscle cramps are some of the worst physical ailments that an athlete can go through. You’ll see plenty of players get taken out of the game in the early and warmer months of the college football and NFL seasons due to severe cramping, but rarely do you see a pickle jar — full of pickles — make its way to the bench.
However, Boise State Broncos running back Jay Ajayi was throwing out all of the stops on Friday night and it showed with the picture above. Apparently the cramps weren’t that bad though, because Ajayi still managed to reach the end zone four times against the Air Force Falcons. This is quite the accomplishment considering the Boise State running back only rushed for four rushing touchdowns all of last season!
It must be that jar-o-pickles!
Something tells me that pickle jars will start appearing on college football sidelines across the country. The juice from pickles apparently works so well that Jason Witten of the Dallas Cowboys is a spokesperson for a company called Pickle Juice Sport. In case you’re questioning this whole pickle juice stuff, the makers of Pickle Juice Sport claim that their drink contains approximately 30 times more electrolytes than Powerade and 15 times more than Gatorade.
As for Ajayi? His four-touchdown performance might go down as one of the better nights that a Broncos’ running back has ever had. Is pickle juice Ajayi’s secret weapon? We shall see.
