Have you been loving all the football highlights on ESPN lately? Football is back and in full force and it’s a good time to be a fan. Fall also means high school football has started and that usually means handfuls of bizarre plays are set to hit the internet.
In the category of bizarre videos of crazy high school football games, Columbia River (Wash.) took on Skyview and one of the most unbelievable finishes to the game ensued. No, it wasn’t a Hail Mary to win the game — it was far more rare than that. It was probably something you have never seen before — in fact, I guarantee you have never seen anything like this before to end a football game.

This has to be up there on the list of things you never thought possible. There were just seconds left on the clock and the field goal attempt was set to be the last play of the game as Columbia River set up to kick it through the uprights, trailing by one point. The field goal would win the game against Skyview.
Skyview got a great job off the snap and Columbia River’s kicker made a sorry attempt at making the field goal — the ball actually wouldn’t have gone through the uprights just because the ball barely got off the ground with any force as it was.
The field goal was blocked, regardless, and Skyview players sprinted toward the sideline to celebrate the victory with their teammates, coaches and fans. The fans started rushing the field and one Skyview player almost jumped on the ball to end the game, but got up to celebrate instead.
Columbia Southern players realized the ball didn’t cross the line of scrimmage, making it a live ball, and they picked it up and sprinted into the end zone for a victory in an unthinkable way.
It kind of makes you happy that this happened because of the Skyview player who taunted the kicker after the block. Guess who got the last laugh?
