Saturday was a big day for the Wisconsin Badgers as the team improved to 3-1 following a 41-10 win over the Purdue Boilermakers, but it wasn’t the outcome of the game that turned out to be the highlight of the day.
Army Captain Jane Renee “JR” Lund has been in Afghanistan for the past six months pulled off one of the most amazing and emotional moments we may see from the college football season as she surprised her 13-year-old daughter Bella during Saturday’s Wisconsin game in front of the 80,000 fans in attendance. Lund had been home for about a week, but decided to keep it a secret so she could surprise her daughter.
If you don’t already have the tissues by your side–now would be a good time to go grab some.
As you can see in the video above, Bella’s family was being honored for her mother’s service to this country and when the Badgers announcer told Bella to turn around so she could see her mother standing in the end zone of the student section–you can’t help but shed tears of joy as you can see the look of excitement on both of their faces as they finally get to see each other for the first time in six months.
Lund describes at the beginning of the video how the last time she saw Bella was at the beginning of April for her birthday and she was originally scheduled to come home in October–but this return worked out just perfectly. Most of us can only imagine how difficult it is to serve our country with your entire family so far away and from all of us at Rant Sports–we thank you Captain Lund and everyone else fighting for our freedom each day.
