Aaron Murray is one of the best quarterbacks in college football. The Georgia Bulldogs star has proven over the past few seasons that he is the man that can take Mark Richt to his first national title. Just how good are they? Well they dismantled a South Carolina Gamecocks squad at home rather easily. However, it’s not his on-field actions that are making some Georgia fans irate recently.
The senior quarterback went to celebrate his team’s win over North Texas last Saturday at a local restaurant when he did something that shook the bones of a fan, her son and her husband. Okay, so it didn’t shake her bones, but it did irritate the woman, leading her to write this strongly-worded Facebook post on his fan page
As you can see, Ms. Tracy Smith Phipps was not a happy camper. Although I do somewhat agree with her that some athletes, especially college players, need to realize that they are setting an example to younger people and they are, in some regards, heroes to the youth who follow them.
If Murray walks into a restaurant, cuts in line and reserves a ton of tables while making fans wait, he’s not setting a good example for this child who looks up to him.
On the other hand, what does she think a message to his fan page is going to do? He doesn’t run the page. He doesn’t access the page I’m sure. So what does this prove? That the owner of the fan page now has hate mail for Murray that he or she doesn’t know what to do with?
Come on, Tracy.
