The 15 Most Dramatic Athletes Of All Time

The 15 Most Dramatic Athletes Of All Time
Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

Athletes just love to be dramatic. I don't know if it's because they constantly have cameras in their faces and just can't help themselves, or if they're just naturally dramatic people. No matter the reason, the guys we love to watch play sports are some of the biggest drama queens around.

Whether it's because of the cameras or not, they certainly don't help. Athletes figured out a long time ago that it can be a real career boost to show a flair for the dramatic. Don't believe me? Check out how many of the guys on this list have found a second career for themselves in the media. Nothing moves the airwaves more than a loud, opinionated and dramatic former athlete.

For others, their dramatic moments aren't quite as calculated. It just seems to come more naturally for them. Their crazy antics are just well, plain old crazy antics. I get the feeling that if they weren't professional athletes, they would still find a way to be dramatic. Let's all just be glad we get to experience their craziness for ourselves. It would be selfish for them not to share that gift with the rest of us.

Sometimes they're just looking for attention. Sometimes they're looking for someone to fight and argue with, sometimes they're just downright crazy. No matter why, our favorite athletes are sometimes the best at keeping our attention for whatever reason. I know I love all the great drama they create, and I know you do too!

Better get your popcorn ready! These are the 15 most dramatic athletes of all time.

He's not quite as dramatic today, but there was a time when Paul Pierce would treat every injury like he had been shot by a sniper. Okay, maybe he still does that today too.

Nobody loves them some Brett Favre as much as Brett Favre loves himself some Brett Favre.

Tim Tebow can't help but bring attention to everything he does. Well, I think he can't help it. Maybe not making such a big deal of himself would help.

7. Michael Irvin

Michael Irvin practically invented the modern-day diva wide receiver. His antics while at the University of Miami were legendary. Now he mumbles incoherently on TV for some reason.

Johnny Manziel had already shown a flair for the dramatic this offseason when he couldn't seem to keep his bad behavior out of the public eye, but he stepped it up even more when he flashed a "show me the money" sign just days after being investigated by the NCAA.

Chad Johnson, or Ochocinco, or whatever he's going by these days, is so dramatic he somehow managed to turn an appearance in court into a circus.

Alex Rodriguez is so annoying he gets under almost everyone's skin. At this point, I think the sports universe is just going to breathe a sigh of relief when he finally goes away.

1. Terrell Owens

Terrell Owens made being dramatic an art form. He had an impromptu press conference while shirtless in his driveway one time, famously feuded with all his quarterbacks, then cried when another one of his quarterbacks was criticized by someone else.
