Mike Tyson is one of the most polarizing sports figures of all time. He's also without question one of the greatest boxers in history. He started his career by charging through the amateur ranks. He won gold medals in the 1981 and 1982 Junior Olympics and finished with a record of 48-6 before turning pro in 1985.
Once Tyson hit the pro boxing scene in 1985, he didn't look back. He proceeded to go on a tear, winning 37 consecutive fights. His undefeated streak lasted for nearly five full years, a truly remarkable length of time. But even more impressive, is the fact that he won all but four of those fights by KO or TKO.
During his prime, Tyson was basically unstoppable. He could land a devastating blow out of nowhere and drop giant grown men to the canvas in a heartbeat.
But then in 1991, Tyson's career was put on hold as he was sent to prison on rape charges. He wouldn't fight fight again until 1995.
Once Tyson returned to the ring after his stint in prison, he was never the same boxer. He would go on to win nine more times before taking part his last officially recognized fight in 2005.
But beyond Tyson's legendary career in the ring, he's also known for spouting off crazy things on the microphone. At any given time, you never knew if would fly on the handle and go on another tirade. It's with all that in mind that we'll take a look at the 15 craziest moments of Mike Tyson's career. Some are good, some are bad. But that epitomizes what his career was like. Enjoy:
Vince McMahon convinced Tyson to be part of Wrestlemania in 1998, with the idea that the boxing star would draw in new viewers. The idea worked perfectly, as WM14 is still considered one of the most successful PPVs in WWE history.
It doesn't get any crazier than this. Tyson vs. Holyfield II is arguably the most infamous sports moment of all time.
