The Boston Red Sox are in the playoffs once again for the seventh time for the past 10 seasons. Not many people saw this team competing for a playoff spot this season after releasing and trading away many key pieces from an underachieving team a season ago. Guys like Carl Crawford and Adrian Gonzalez have left the Red Sox are now helping the Los Angeles Dodgers make a deep playoff run in the National League, bit David Ortiz stayed put and that’s a big reason as to why this team has been so successful.

With nearly every player on the team rocking a beard, the Red Sox are now primed and ready to take their best record in baseball and out it on the line in the ALCS.

While they might be the favorites to win the American League, they have some stiff competition coming their way with the winner of the other ALDS game. Ortiz will be looking to lead the Red Sox to their third AL Pennant in the past nine seasons.

Moving forward, the Sox have a new slogan, possibly made by fans, that is quite possibly the most Boston thing you will ever find. Besides the beards that have become a fixture in Boston these days, the players will be playing in their favorite month, “Soxtobah”.

Why is this the most Boston thing ever? Maybe because you can’t help but say it in a Boston accent when you read it — or maybe that’s just me. It’s almost like trying to say Nomar Garciaparra‘s name without using a Boston accent — nearly impossible.

Oh, Boston, you never cease to amaze us.
