A new book titled Wheelmen is set to hit shelves soon and in it, there’s a shocking/not so shocking revelation about Lance Armstrong‘s relationship with Sheryl Crow. The famous cyclist of course dated the pop singer for about three years in the early 2000’s. During that time, Armstrong was busy winning cycle races, including the Tour de France. As it turns out all these years later, Armstrong was doping at an alarming rate to stay at the top of his game and to keep his ‘legendary’ career going.
Armstrong came clean to America this past year in an interview with Oprah, but now the new book from Reed Albergotti and Vanessa O’Connell is bringing to light a previously untold story. Allegedly, Crow witnessed Armstrong doping on multiple occasions. Here’s an except from the new book:
“Rather than try to hide the transfusion from her, Armstrong was completely open about it. He trusted that Crow would have no desire to tell the press or anyone else about the team’s doping program. He explained that it was simply part of the sport, that all cyclists were doing the same thing.”
The book also states that Crow told federal investigators her story when she was subpoenaed a couple years back, but that she was given a ‘proffer agreement’ that protected her from prosecution. All of this is now moot point as the federal case against Armstrong has been dropped, but it’s still interesting that Crow basically narked on her ex-lover. I think most of us can agree that the proven liar and cheater, deserved it.
