Yeah, he’s kind of a big deal. Bill Self is the man in Lawrence, Kan., and for good reason — he is, in fact, a big deal. Why am I saying this? Well, in a recent 2013-14 season Kansas Jayhawks promotional video, the veteran coach played the role of Ron Burgundy with the rest of the coaching staff doing a spin-off of the ‘Anchorman’ movie with Will Ferrell.

The video was released in order to create some excitement as well as to show his sense of humor for all to see. The video has begun to make its rounds across the internet and if you know anything about the movie ‘Anchorman’ and are excited for the sequel to come out on Christmas, then this is the video for you to feast your eyes upon:

As you can see, Self recites some famous lines from the first movie and shows that even he, as a basketball coach, can be a pretty funny guy underneath the tough attitude on the court.

In my opinion, this ups the game of coaches trying to be funny and should start drawing other coaches to do the same. Sure they make fools of themselves during the video, but they look like they are having fun — and who doesn’t want a coach who can have some fun.

Bill Self is one of those guys that you can’t help but look up to because of his strong coaching record and numerous appearances in the Final Four as well as a national title in 2008. Self has assembled possibly his best team in recent memory for the 2013-14 season after receiving a commitment from Andrew Wiggins — the top overall high school player in the nation for the 2013 class.

Watch out for Ron Burgundy and the Jayhawks to contend for a national title this season.
