As surprising as it may seem, there have been a number of celebrities who one would think have no inkling of talent in contorting their body into weird positions or doing incredible flips throughout the air. With this in mind we take a look at 20 celebrities who you wouldn't believe used to be cheerleaders before they gained national stardom.
Before Charisma Carpenter became a famous actress, she was a cheerleader for the San Diego Chargers. She only lasted one year with the team before moving to Los Angeles, where her acting career took off.
Prior to becoming Hannah Montana and then a twerking sensation, Miley Cyrus was a cheerleader for the Premier Tennessee Panthers. One could draw obvious conclusions between Cyrus' dancing in musical performances to previously being a cheerleader, although it's hard to believe that her coaches taught her to twerk.
Prior to becoming one of the most successful actresses in the last 35 years, Jamie Lee Curtis was a cheerleader for Harvard-Westlake School in Los Angeles, California.
Some roles can be challenging for actors and actresses, but that was certainly not the case for Kirsten Dunst in the 2000 cheerleading flick “Bring It On.” Prior to starring in the film, Dunst was a cheerleader for all four of her years at Notre Dame High School in Los Angeles.
Fergie was a cheerleader at Glen Wilson High School in Hacienda Heights, California. One must imagine that this stint taught her some of her dance moves, and in turn helped her on stage while performing with the Black Eyed Peas.
Prior to her celebrity days and multiple rehab stints, Lindsay Lohan was a cheerleader at Sanford H. Calhoun High School in New York.
The material girl was once a high school cheerleader, which obviously taught her how to dance. It is safe to say that Madonna took these tips in hand, as she has made a career out of putting on great shows.
The actress showed she is just like us common folk when she attended Comic-Con in 2013 dressed as Princess Leia. She is currently dating Green Bay Packers star quarterback Aaron Rodgers and was a cheerleader at her high school in Oklahoma City.
Before becoming one of the most famous actresses in the world, Halle Berry was a high school cheerleader for Bedford High School in Cleveland, Ohio.
Prior to getting her big break on Desperate Housewives, Eva Longoria was a cheerleader at Texas A&M-Kingsville.
The “Clueless” actress was a cheerleader at San Mateo High School in California before deciding to drop out to focus on acting full time.
Prior to becoming a movie and television star, Sandra Bullock served as a cheerleader for Washington-Lee High School in Virginia. This role served Bullock well, as she has not shied away from raising her voice in numerous acting roles.
Christina Aguilera's dancing roots come from her days as a cheerleader at North Allegheny Intermediate High School. This training served Aguilera well, as she has relied immensely on dancing in her musical performances.
The host of “Live! with Kelly and Michael has that bubbly personality you expect from a cheerleader. It makes sense since she was a cheerleader at Eastern High School in Voorhees Township, New Jersey.
Prior to becoming a model and actress, Cameron Diaz served as a cheerleader for Long Beach Polytechnic High School.
As one of the funniest women in the world, few would have expected that Amy Poehler would be a cheerleader for Burlington High School during her younger years.
Before becoming a pop star, actress and television personality, Jessica Simpson served as a cheerleader at Richardson North Junior High School in 1994.
Surprisingly enough to many people, movie star Megan Fox was a cheerleader long before she ever donned a cheerleader uniform in the film Jennifer's Body. Fox cheerleaded for Morningside Academy in Port St. Lucie, Florida, while in high school.
Blake Lively served as a cheerleader for Burbank High School in California prior to appearing in the films Savages, Green Lantern and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.
While on her way to becoming the cover girl for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition and a modeling career, Brooklyn Decker served as a cheerleader at Butler High School in Charlotte, North Carolina.
