Last week, we had a very interesting weekend of results in both NCAA Football and the NFL where several teams made some statements with regards to their postseason and or championship aspirations. In college football, Florida State made serious statement as they went into Death Valley and lay a categorical beatdown of Clemson. While Florida State was doing what they were doing, Missouri continued to prove that they are a legit team as they defeated Florida at home to get one step closer to winning the SEC East division while remaining undefeated.

In NFL action, the New York Jets were able to not shoot themselves in the foot as they overcame and beat the New England Patriots in overtime while the Cincinnati Bengals continued to find ways to win games as opposed to losing them as a last-second field goal saw them defeat the Detroit Lions. Outside of football action, we had some futbol action with Serie A being home to the best action as AS Roma continued a great and historic start with a 2-0 win over SSC Napoli while Fiorentina down 2-0 in the second half to Juventus scored four unanswered to beat the ‘Vecchia Signora’ 4-2.

As if all that were not enough, UFC 166 saw Cain Velasquez once again prove he is without a doubt one of the best pound for pound MMA fighters with an impressive TKO win over Junior Dos Santos while in boxing action, the Siberian Rocky himself Ruslan Provodnikov upset Mike Alvarado via a TKO after the 10th round. Looking ahead to this weekend’s football action, in college football we have several games where we have a few teams with big rivalry games next weekend taking on much weaker opposition while in the NFL, we have several intriguing matchups with the return of Mike Shanahan to Denver as the Washington Redskins face off against the Denver Broncos.

Looking back on my picks last week, I went 2-3 in my straight up picks to give me my first losing weekend so far with regards to me making straight up picks this season. While I had a losing weekend with my straight up picks, I finally had a winning weekend with my against the spread (ATS) picks! Thanks to the Missouri, the Atlanta Falcons, and the New York Jets yours truly finally had a winning week with my ATS picks after a losing spell, which frankly was driving me insane. Through eight weeks of picks, I am 31-9 in my straight up picks while I am now 16-22-2 in my ATS picks. As usual, all the lines for my ATS picks are courtesy of Covers.com and the lines for my bonus picks are from Bovada.lv.

Bonus Picks: In Saturday’s Bundesliga action, take the excess of three goals scored at -110 in the game between Schalke 04 and Borussia Dortmund. Also in Saturday action in La Liga, take Real Madrid to win at +320 over FC Barcelona in ‘El Clasico‘. Finally for a futures bet, take the Chicago Bulls to win the 2013-14 NBA Championship at 11/2 or the Indiana Pacers at 9/1.
