On Sunday, the Miami Dolphins blew a 17-3 halftime lead over the Patriots as the ‘Phins would leave Foxborough with their second AFC East loss in just as many weeks. However, one of the bigger stories from this game happened after the contest. According to Sports Illustrated; Massachusetts State Police handed Miami center Mike Pouncey a grand jury subpoena related to the investigation into Hernandez and the All-Pro tight end’s potential involvement in gun trafficking.
Talk about adding insult to injury.
Thankfully, Pouncey was not charged with anything, but the MSPD fully expects Pouncey to reveal anything he knows about Hernandez’s involvement in any gun trafficking. The Dolphins’ center roomed with Hernandez when the two attended the University of Florida, which means No. 51 might know something about his former teammate. Needless to say, the folks in Massachusetts aren’t cutting any exploring all options.
Now, another wrinkle to this odd situation is the fact that Mike Pouncey and his twin brother Maurkice Pouncey posed with “Free Hernandez” hats just a few months back. Oddly enough, Maurkice plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers, a team that will trek to the northeast and face the Patriots in Week 9. However, Pouncey has been on injured reserve since Week 1 with a knee injury, so it’s doubtful that Maurkice makes the trip.
