The Michigan State Spartans did something that they had done in five of the past six season on Saturday afternoon: they beat their in-state rival, the Michigan Wolverines. It took a little less than a half for the Spartans to take the lead for good and never look back, but it looks like Michigan State might be a serious contender for a Big Ten title after the 29-6 victory. Mark Dantonio has a 5-2 record against the Wolverines in his seven seasons at Michigan State — and he’s very happy about it.

Anyone who is close to the Michigan State football program knows that Dantonio is a very serious head coach. Rarely does he smile, laugh or show any emotion at all. He’s a very hard-nosed coach who stresses defense and making the right play at the correct time.

Dantonio is not a smile kind of guy. However, on Saturday evening, he was caught with a grin from ear to ear while the final second ticked off the clock. Moreover, he was caught dancing with his players in the locker room after the game to “Type of Way” by Rich Homie Quan.

This is pretty cool to see. The coach is rarely this happy — ever — and to see him dancing and having fun with his players in the locker room was probably pretty special to them. It was a sight that was extremely rare and might never be seen again from the coach — on camera, at least.

Congrats to Dantonio and the Spartans for a huge win against Michigan.
