20 of the Most Annoying Athletes in Sports Today

Everyone loves sports. From kids to adults, men to women, athletes to spectators, sports are what makes some people's lives more enjoyable. It's an escape from everyday life in which people can forget their problems and focus in on their favorite players and teams. However, there are some occasions when sports make people angrier -- such as losing -- and more frustrated than they would have hoped.

While we watch sports, we all develop some type of relationship with the athletes. Our favorite athletes feel like our best friends and brothers. When they are succeeding, we are happy. However, when they falter, we suffer like they are suffering. It's always fun to latch on to an athlete and choose one, or multiple, as your favorite player and watch them succeed and play through the ups and downs of their sport.

There is always that one player that just annoys you more than anyone else out there. There's that one guy that just gets under your skin and rubs you the wrong way. We call these athletes enemies, but in reality, they are just plain annoying.

No player is exempt from being dubbed "annoying" just because they are still in college. Although college athletes don't get the attention that professional athletes get, the sports of college football and college basketball are full of players that annoy fans just like any other sport.

Who are your least favorite and most annoying athletes? I'm sure we will disagree on a few of these, but for the most part, everyone on this list annoys a majority of people. Some of these guys are either loved or hated. Usually if they're loved, it's by their own fan base.

Take a look at who I've ranked the 20 most annoying athletes in sports today.

20. Colin Kaepernick

There's nothing more annoying than hearing about an athlete who started less than 10 games in his career being one of the best players in the NFL. How'd that work for him in 2013?

19. DeSean Jackson

His cocky celebrations, trash-talking and lack of positive attitude can come off as very annoying. He's a great player, but does he ever need an attitude adjustment.

18. Dez Bryant

Watching his sideline antics and his abrasive attitude with teammates and opposing fans it nothing short of annoying. Another great player that needs an attitude readjustment in order to make another step toward greatness.

17. Jeremy Lin

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

There's not many things more annoying than a guy who had a good month or two of basketball filling in for injured players and then being talked about as the next great point guard in the NBA. Let's put this into perspective: Lin averages 14.7 points, 4.4 assists and 2.6 rebounds this season while teammate James Harden averages 24.6 points, 5.7 assists and 4.8 rebounds. Lin has more All-Star votes by about 40,000 so far for the 2013-14 All-Star Game.

16. Sidney Crosby

Not many other hockey players draw the kind of publicity that Crosby does. With all that attention, comes hatred and negative light. It doesn't help that Crosby is usually afraid of contact and has been known as the queen of hockey.

15. Richard Sherman

Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

A lot of people don't like Richard Sherman because of his cocky attitude and loud mouth. Sherman is one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL, but he needs to let his actions speak to that, not his non-stop running mouth.

14. Bryce Harper

Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports

Bryce Harper is one of those"bros" in MLB that you have a hard time liking. The kid acts like he's better than everyone already and he's only played a couple full seasons. Watching him try to charge the mound after being hit by a pitch is a "clown move" especially when stuff like that happens all the time.

13. Jose Valverde

Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

If you're the opposition of Valverde, you have to be annoyed by his wacky, outlandish celebrations. If you're the team he plays for, you have to be annoyed by his blown saves. Either way, the guy needs to go away.

12. Cristiano Ronaldo

Ronaldo is a cocky athlete who seemingly cares more about his looks than his play. Now that's annoying.

11. Marshall Henderson

Where to start on this kid. The Ole Miss basketball player has to be the most annoying college basketball player in recent memory. He taunts opponents, mocks fans and doesn't know how to keep his mouth closed. The picture describes it all.

10. Chris Bosh

Chris Bosh likes to photo-bomb his teammates -- and sometimes it's funny. However, the way he argues calls -- just like the rest of the Miami Heat -- makes everyone want to yell, "shut up!" in disgust.

9. Blake Griffin

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

Blake Griffin is in all of those commercials and that alone is one of the most annoying things an athlete can do. He thinks he's funnier than he actually is, but in actuality, people just mute the commercials. He is pretty good at basketball, though.

8. Tom Brady

Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

Tom Brady loves to whine and cry about bad calls. Don't forget when he was screaming and yelling at his own teammates earlier in the 2013 season. Oh yeah, and his ability to win all the time is pretty annoying, too.

7. Carmelo Anthony

Complaining about calls, money and where he wants to play -- all the things that make up Carmelo. I get it, he wants to play somewhere that will feel like home for him -- or just offers him the most money. At least we know that cash will never be a problem for this talented diva.

6. Chael Sonnen

If you've ever heard Chael Sonnen talk, you know why he's on this list. As the cockiest fighter out there, he talks down to opponents and has a way with words that will just irk you.

5. LeBron James

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Whining and crying after every call and non-call gets pretty old. Watching LeBron complain is like watching a 12-year-old girl not get her way -- especially when he takes four steps, is called for a travel and claims he did nothing wrong.

4. Johnny Manziel

manziel
Thomas Campbell-USA TODAY Sports

The amount of time this guy spends in the spotlight -- even if it's not his fault -- is sickening. He loves to be center of attention. I don't think he could have gotten any more annoying during his first game of the season when he was taunting the mighty Rice Owls -- don't upset Johnny. Come on, Johnny Football, stop being so annoying.

3. Alex Rodriguez

rodriguez
The Star-Ledger-USA TODAY Sports

Playing the role of victim when you are guilty of using performance-enhancing drugs is as annoying as anything. When you have been caught using them and still refuse to admit it, it's disgusting and a disgrace to baseball.

2. Dwight Howard

howard
Howard Smith-USA TODAY Sports

Besides complaining about playing for a bad team and a coach he didn't like in Orlando and getting his coach fired, getting a shot to play with the Los Angeles Lakers after demanding his way out of Orlando and complaining the entire time he was in Los Angeles, he's a pretty good guy. I don't think any athlete can be as irking as baby Dwight.

1. Tim Tebow

tebow
Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

I'm going to say this, it's not Tim Tebow's fault that he's so annoying -- it's mostly the attention he gets from big media outlets. However, that just gives people a negative perspective of the guy. Who wants to hear about every move he's making? Who cares if he's in Hawaii? He ate a cheeseburger? Who cares. Sorry, Tim, but you might be the most annoying covered athlete in sports -- you are a good guy, though.

#17 Jeremy Lin: What, it’s his fault that other people are voting for him of the All-Star Game? Or that other people hyped up his totally impressive debut for the NY Knicks 2 years ago?

#12 Christiano Ronaldo: Yes, he’s cocky, but when you’ve scored more goals in a season than every other player in the world, you probably have a reason to be. And if he’s got time to spare to worry about his looks after winning the Balon d’Or, then I guess he can spend it however he wants.

#5 LeBron James: OK, so maybe the video isn’t the best example of what you’re saying, but all I saw from the accompanying clip was a look of confusion and not much complaining. Now, sure, maybe a professional basketball player should actually know when they’ve blatantly traveled, but it really doesn’t prove your point about how much of a complainer he is, either.
