20 Hot Female Athletes You'd Love To Encounter Under the Mistletoe

Thanksgiving has passed, and we're almost a week into December, which means that we are officially right in the middle of holiday season. It's the season for snowmen, snowball fights, snow angels and igloos; hot chocolate, candy canes and eggnog; thick stews, glazed hams and Christmas cookies. It's the season for buying, making and receiving presents, spending time with family and friends that you don't get to see throughout the rest of the year and for many people, it's a time to travel. The holiday season is a time for tradition.

One of the oldest traditions is kissing under the mistletoe.

The earliest documentation of people kissing underneath mistletoe dates all the way back to 16th century England. In 19th century Scandinavia, mistletoe would be hung in farmhouses and in kitchens and if a man and a woman happened to meet under it, they were obliged to kiss; after the smooch, the man was then required to pluck a white berry from the mistletoe and once all of the berries were gone, the privilege ceased.

Still today, many people imagine meeting a special someone underneath the enchanted plant for a romantic moment. I took a look at 20 gorgeous female athletes who I personally -- and I'm sure the same can be said for most of you reading this -- wouldn't mind bumping into underneath the mistletoe.

There are so many beautiful female athletes out there, and the upcoming list is 100 percent subjective; if you feel like I made a serious error in judgement by leaving somebody out, feel free to drop a comment, and maybe a link to some pictures to back it up!

Happy holidays and enjoy the show!
