When it comes to the USA Women’s Speed Skating team in the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics, a great deal of attention should go to Heather Richardson. The Sochi games will be her second in a row and though the first time around she wasn’t able to grab a medal, she has been nothing short of one of the best USA has to offer in the sport since that time.

Her events during the games will be the 1500m, 1000m and 500m, all of which she has shown the ability to compete in and some dominate in. Many times we see these athletes for only a few weeks every four years and then they don’t show up for another four. For them of course this is a lifetime of work all going together for a week or so period now and then to show that they are the absolute best of the best.

Richardson is no different than that herself. What do we know about her though? Well thanks to the fact that many bits of information are available on Olympic athletes, we can find out a great deal about them. Alongside all of the amazing feats that they achieve, there are just as many facts that prove that each and every one of them is just a normal person.
