DMX is going to compete in a celebrity boxing match against George Zimmerman. Yes, that’s a real life statement. As crazy as it sounds, it’s a real fight that’s set to take place in the near future.
Both men are known for completely different reasons. Zimmerman is of course known as the man who was acquitted in the death of Trayvon Martin. While DMX made his millions by selling rap records in the late 90s and 2000s. Now, after a careful selection process by the folks at Celebrity Boxing (roughly 15,000 applicants to fight Zimmerman), DMX has been chosen to throw down with the unpopular Zimmerman.
How exactly DMX became the choice is unclear, but he’s more than ready:
“I am going to beat the living **** out him… I am breaking every rule in boxing to make sure I **** him right up,” said the 43-year old rapper.
It should be noted that Zimmerman is much younger at just 30-years of age. However, DMX already appears to be more motivated. We’ll have to see if Zimmerman fires back with a quote of his own.
TMZ is reporting that Zimmerman has been training for months in anticipation for this fight, so he may actually stand a chance. It’s also being said that rapper ‘The Game’ originally wanted to fight Zimmerman, but that he declined based on the rapper’s physical stature (6-5, 230 lbs).
So no matter the predicted outcome of this boxing match, people are going to watch. That’s ultimately all the promoters are after.
