Sunday was no day of rest at the 2014 Winter Olympics as tournaments began preparing for elimination rounds. Other sports are moving into team events, and yet others are just getting started.

The United States men's and women's curling teams looked to be all but counted out of elimination play as they both fell to Canada in session 10, with the men later falling to Sweden in session 11. As round robin play enters its final sessions tomorrow, the U.S. is being shown the way out.

American alpine skier Bode Miller was able to share a bronze medal, having tied with Jan Hudec of Canada in the men's super-G. With identical 1:18.67 times, Miller will not have to head back home empty-handed, as was feared.

Women's hockey held their classification rounds, with Japan falling to Russia in a 6-3 heartbreak. As is their custom and in a complete class move, the Japanese team ended the game by bowing to the Russian bench and fans. The United States women take on Sweden tomorrow in the playoff semifinals.

On the men's side, the United States secured Group A and a bye to the quarterfinals with a win over Slovenia. Since Finland was able to take Canada to overtime, the U.S. earned the second seed behind Sweden. This creates a situation where a U.S.-Canada gold medal rematch from Vancouver is impossible. The U.S. will face the winner of Czech Republic vs. Slovakia, while Canada will take on either Switzerland or Latvia. Should both the U.S. and Canada win their quarterfinal games, they would face off in the semifinals.

Russia drew Norway in the qualification round, and as the fifth seed, could possibly face the United States in a gold medal game -- a game which could prove to be the hottest ticket of the games.

All results are final unless otherwise noted.
