As the 2014 Winter Olympics wind down, more and more medal winners are returning to the good ol’ US of A. One of the things that’s common for medal winners upon their return, is making the rounds on late night and various other talk shows. US gold medal winning snowboarder Sage Kotsenburg made one of those visits to Conan O’Brien on Thursday night.

During the interview, it was revealed that Kotsenburg wasn’t exactly satisfied with his gold medal. Sure, he loved winning gold on the big stage and putting one on the board for his country, but he would have preferred for the medal to be made out of another material. That material, is the wonderful food known as bacon.

The good news for Kotsenburg, is that Conan had his back:

You’ll also notice in the clip that Conan is wearing some unique headwear. Kotsenburg gave O’Brien a stocking hat with hair embedded in it to make him feel like a snowboarder:

Overall, this interview was really funny. Conan seemed to be fascinated by Kotsenburg’s laid back demeanor. Snowboarders get stereotyped all the time, but for the most part, they seem like fun people. There’s no doubt that snowboarders are a different breed, but there’s nothing wrong with that in my book. Just because they handle themselves a little differently than other Olympic athletes, doesn’t mean they don’t strive for greatness like everybody else.

But as long as they keep asking for bacon gold medals, straight-laced folks will continue to shake their heads. Oh well.
