One of the most successful, under-the-radar athlete-celebrity relationships has maintained privacy and happiness for a lot longer than your average Hollywood romance. Tennis player Andy Roddick and his model/actress wife Brooklyn Decker have been together for years and are just as happy today as the they were when they first met, which is a funny story. We’ll get to that and more as we re-visit their history in pictures through the years.
Roddick actually noticed Decker while watching the show “She Says Z Says” on the CNN/Sports Illustrated website.
He then had his agent contact her agent so he could meet her.
It must be nice to just see your dream girl on TV and then meet her right afterward.
Of course, she said yes to the blind date set up by agents, so she must have at least thought he was cute beforehand.
In case you didn’t know, she’s a Sports Illustrated: Swimsuit Edition cover girl.
She’s originally from Ohio, but also grew up in North Carolina, so they both root for the Tar Heels.
However, they currently live in Austin, Texas, and apparently don’t hate the Longhorns, either.
And in case you’re wondering, he’s originally from Omaha, Nebraska.
He was the ranked as the World No. 1 male tennis player in November of 2003.
He’s won the U.S. Open (2003) and reached the finals at Wimbledon three times (’04, 05 and 09), but that was as close to the grand slam as he ever got.
He earned well over million in his career.
She regularly attended his tennis matches to cheer on her hubby.
In fact, he proposed to her an hour before beating then-World No. 1 Roger Federer to reach the semifinals of the 2008 Ericsson Open.
They began dating in 2007, became engaged in March of 2008 and married in April of 2009.
She’s actually begun a decent acting career since becoming famous though the SI Swimsuit Edition.
She even got him on the silver screen. At the end of the movie “Just Go With It” he made a cameo as her new love interest after she was dumped by a character played by Adam Sandler.
