As in life, there are just some phrases you don't want to hear in the world of sports. Most of time these phrases are uttered by the announcers calling the action, but they can be said by fans watching as well. But no matter who says them, the end result is usually bad for everyone involved.
Here are the 10 most dreaded phrases in sports:
This phrase is on the table for almost any game taking place outside, but baseball, NASCAR and golf fans know it all too well.
Ending a race on a caution flag is one of the most anticlimactic things in sports.
Yes, NFL games can end in a tie. And yes, it sucks when that happens.
This phrase almost guarantees that your favorite pitcher is headed to the DL.
The only thing worse than a delay is a postponement. There's nothing like planning an entire day around a game, only to have it get cancelled.
This phrase is really scary in football. Often times it means the player has an injury to his head or neck area.
Any time a player in any sport goes down and clutches his knee, it's almost always bad news. Just ask Bulls fans.
"Well Jim, it looks like they're going to review this one." Once you hear that, kiss 10 minutes of your life goodbye.
Nothing good ever happens once the cart is wheeled onto a football field. Some of the saddest faces you'll ever see belong to players getting carted off.
Of all the phrases in sports, this one has to be the worst. You can bet it's a sticky situation if career-ending has to be added to the description of an injury.
