  • JoeDaBeast

I guess your sources are sorely outdated: since (#12) Liz Gorman no longer plays and it is the Legends Football League, dropping the Lingerie for athletic wear.

  • The Masked Avatar

The pop-up ads are too annoying. I won’t be returning to this website.

    • TR66

Try using Mozilla Firefox with the ABE (AdBlock Edge) add-on. That’s what I’m using to view this site; and I’m seeing absolutely NO pop-up ads.

  • Zeus Almighty

you two need to focus on the important part of this article. girls wearing very little and revealing very much. i didn’t notice any pop up ads. just clicked fast twice to the next girl. who cares about the name of the lingerie league.

  • MPA2000

Duh! Why would we care what homely athletes look like? The “article” states the obvious.

  • RoyBaty

Anna Kournikova was ranked #8 in the world in tennis singles, and ranked #1 in doubles. Not exactly a lingerie “football” player.

    • Dustin Goldsen

Another point, she did win two grand slam events. She and Martina Hingis won the Australian Open Doubles championships in 1999 and 2002.

      • JM

And she reached the semis at Wimbledon, Tyler. Moron.

        • Joseph Downing

She started her pro career at age 15 and was forced to retire at 22 due to multiple recurring injuries. Yet in that short time she won two doubles championships and was at one point ranked in the top ten world rankings in singles and number one in doubles. There are very few women’s tennis players who’ve achieved what Anna Kournikova has in such a short timespan and at such a young age.

      • Allen Mallory

Hingis was beast on the court and she could hold her own in the beauty department too.

    • ottie

WHY SHE HAS NEVER WON AT ANYTHING BUT BEING A HIGH CLASSED WH@@@@E AND YOU KNOW IT.

      • RoyBaty

You sound like a mooooslum, probably a rag head also. Beheaded any women or children lately?

      • RoyBaty

Read ur other posts and now I know you are an angry colored fellow who probably got shot down by white girl after white girl. So sorry ottie.

        • mike4ty4

Why do you want to bring RACISM into this?

  • Davis

I’m surprised that Michelle J. has that large of a chest. I feel I’ve been denied critical, need to know information until now

  • mobiletuck

Most of these I have no idea who they are, and agree with the people picked, but I do have to agree, even though Anna Kournikova is known in the US more for her modeling, she was the reason many of the top Russian tennis stars are playing now. She brought the spotlight to the game making it something the girls of Russia aspired to, and the country itself started to support and build the tennis program there.

    • Yea_Uhuh

um…it’s not about other athletes. It’s about her accomplishments.

  • Henry Plantagenet

How classy. Insult athletes who are trying to win just like everybody else, imply that they are exploiting their bodies….and then exploit their bodies. This must be why no one has ever heard of YOU.

    • seeseebutler

Henry sir, they are exploiting their bodies, but I’m not complaining.

  • Dana Lee Pertermann

This story is HORRIBLE. All of these women have worked hard to earn what they have. Has the author even been accepted to an Olympic team?? The idea that the public doesn’t know them for their accomplishments says more about our culture than anything about them personally. This story implies that these women are simply bimbos that don’t deserve recognition.

    • tjsand

the author probably can’t even run a mile

Author writes for “Rant Sports”, probably couldn’t write a mile either.

  • Kingcruiser

Danica Patrick is only in her second full year in NASCAR and the only woman to ever win an IndyCar race. How many IndyCar races have any of the writers won? Top Gear host “Hamster” tried to drive one of those cars (with reduced power) and couldn’t handle the power (yet he drives high power super cars with ease)! Driving is a team sport with the car being as critical as the driver. NASCAR has a new Sprint Series car to boot. That’s why the likes of former champion Tony Stewart hasn’t won any races this year. And others have won two, then fade. The driver doesn’t change — the car’s setup either doesn’t match the driver or the track (each track’s setup has to be different). Everyone in the Sprint Series is on a new learning curve. She also doubled the ratings for IndyCar, not by modeling, but by being a feisty explosive stick of dynamite in tiny package. Yes, she’s also cute. I suppose you would rather she uglied herself up to “get more respect”?
She also just finished 7th last weekend. In the tight packs of NASCAR, it’s easy to lose positions when cars ahead of you start to fall back. She ran 3rd for awhile.

    • J.R. Caldoon

This February, she also did something no woman’s ever done in NASCAR before: win the pole position in a top-level (Winston/NEXTEL/Sprint Cup) race — and not just any race — the Daytona 500. She’s gonna grab a checkered flag sooner or later if she stays healthy and sticks with Stewart-Haas Racing, I think. She’s got spirit and (not punning all here) immense drive, totally has the heart of a racer and it will shine again properly one of these days.

I just hope fuel mileage isn’t involved, when it happens. :P

      • TwitchWasHere

Danica is more gritty than skilled, if that’s even a thing in racing, but she has also been the victim of crazy terrible luck while leading and being in contention. If things had gone her way, her lone win would be several, and that first W would have come much sooner than it did.

    • Mad Maxx

This has nothing to do with the writers…they were just pointing out facts. Hamster was trying to drive an F1 car, not an Indycar. And yes, she drove up Indy ratings…for being a cute female and she still can’t drive for shit, so lighten up!

  • dirt42

What about any male athletes who fall into the same category? Namely, Apollo Ohno. Sure he’s good, even often medaling, but consistently coming in 2nd or 3rd, if that, yet the cameras focus on him instead of who is actually winning. I can’t think of a better example.

    • Beth

Women get less respect for doing their best than men get for doing their worst. Especially if they happen to show a little skin at any point ever.

      • dirt42

Being a guy, I am guilty of appreciating a little skin, but agree with you completely.

    • Mattyfied

You’re kidding, right? Ohno is an EIGHT-TIME Olympic medalist who brought a sport out of complete obscurity into the American public consciousness. The TV cameras focused on him because they were American TV cameras focusing on the top American athlete in the sport. That’s how it works in every Olympic event.

      • dirt42

I never said he was a failure & I completely understand the American TV cameras focusing on him, but if one is not crossing the line 1st, (maybe even far from it,) and the cameras are completely focused on that person at the end of the competition, they are disrespecting the athlete(s) who deserve their higher glory of besting Mr. Ohno and the rest of the field by winning the current event, Instead they are resting on another’s past laurels or looks. I watch the Olympics to see the competition. I love see all the competitors & their progression &/or drives for improvement, even if over past reputations of achievement that have diminished to some extent but at the finish line, cameras on the winners. Then go to the other bested favorites.

  • Alex Yamach

Nobody will ever say the Williams sisters are famous because of their looks!

    • ottie

WHY BECAUSE THEY ARE BLACK YOU ARE SO OUT OF TOUCH WITH WHAT BLACK MEN LIKE 95 PERCENT DONT THINK WHITE WOMEN ARE SO PRETTY THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME HAVE NO BUTTS ARE DEPENDANT ON MAKE UP WE BLACK MEN LOVE OUR BLACK WOMEN IT IS THE WHITE WOMEN WHO RUN AFTER OUR DUMB A##SED ATHLETES AND I DON BLAME THEM THEY GET RICH AND DONT HAVE TO BE WITH POOR WHITE DUDES LIKE YOU SO GO ON BAD MOUTH THE BLACK WOMEN WE BLACK MEN DONT CARE.

      • ThisoneThing

lol maybe it’s because they are accomplished athletes…if you are looking for racism look in the mirror. I will say, at the risk of feeding your zealotry, it’s only white women in this article which may be racist. OR it’s what the numbers say. So go break your caps key on that

      • flyhigh33

You, my friend, are either just blowing dummy-smoke or you are absolutely and completely “out of touch” – as you say. Black men preferring black women?? You’re actually stating that as some form of fact? Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Black men overwhelmingly prefer white women. Take a look at pro athletes (who have the cash and means to be choosey and select what they truly want instead of what’s waddling apound the corner. Virtually ALL white chicks! Don’t make yoursef look so foolish here! But who wouldn’t. One thing consistent about black women is their absolute and utter inability to just SHUT UP FOR A SECOND!! So who can blame the guys? That’s why black women have a half-dozen kids by 24 years of age… and no dads around. None of them are willing to put up with it. Black guys go to great lenghts to get thewm a “white woman”. The fattest and ugliest white women out there are invariably with a black guy with half-black kids in tow at WalMart

        • D. Will

I happen to be a black man, and I would have to disagree. All of my relatives, and many of my friends are black as well, and I’ve known very few, to date or want to date white women. I’ve slept with a few, but had no interest in a relationship with them. Actually, I did it because they were chasing me, they happened to be good looking, and they made it so easy. I’m not saying all white women are easy, but some are, and that’s why some of the few black athlete’s that end up with them, do. If you’ve ever spent any time around professional athletes, you’d know that some of the groupies are extremely good looking, and will do anything to land an athlete, black or white. I was an athlete on a predominantly white college campus, and though I was good looking, and well built, I was neither wealthy, nor on my way to being a professional athlete. I still had more than enough offers for whatever I wanted. I can only imagine what women would have been offering, and doing to me if I pulled up to the scene in a Bentley, or a Lamborghini. It’s been said, men fall in love with the women we sleep with, and if I’d had a white woman constantly performing her best sexual tricks on me, long term, it is possible I could have ended up with one. I happen to find black women more attractive, and culturally, I fit better with black women. As for the 24 year old with 6 kids, I’ve lived in predominantly black communities most of my life, and I see more of this on television, and in movies than in reality.
And you can also find many white athletes and actors that are wealthy, and date, or are married to black women, like: Robert Deniro, Robin Thicke, Brian Urlacher, Steve Nash, Dirk Nowitzki, Boris Becker, Nick Collison, David Bowie and George Hobson (creator of Star Wars). The list goes on and on, and it includes ultra wealthy businessmen, congresssman and so on.
Does that mean white guys prefer black women?

          • katie

I have to agree with most of what you are saying, however, you are mistaking in a few of your points. If you have lived in predominantly black communities (except for the predominantly white college?) then you have witnessed the numerous kids with single black mothers. It is a fact in the U.S. look it up. Yet, I don’t place blame on people of color. White men and women beat and held down black men and women for centuries. The white man was afraid of the black man, so they kept them uneducated for an advantage. It is disgusting and shameful also actions of our ancestors. They only way to improve, is to educate yourself, and your black family. Knowledge is power. As the years continue, more and more black men and women are reaching their potential because they are finally able to. Our President is an extremely intelligent, humble, amazing black man!! Color does NOT say who we are. What we do that is seen by everyone around us, does.

      • bluesky

        Then why are you yelling?

      • Mad Maxx

        You’re an idiot…and a racist!

      • Greg Gutlessfeld

        D-e-p-e-n-d-e-n-t. F-a-r-c-e. Y-o-u.

      • katie

As a young, good looking white woman with an athletic body that has both big boobs and an ass, black men hit on my every time I leave my house. Oh, and I do not wear makeup and I am not attracted to black men. So that 95%? Yeah, stop being a hater and just be honest. Black men LOVE white women! However, white men LOVE black women! Black women are beautiful, as are white women, Asian women, European women. We all have our ugly and we all have our models.

    • Dontbefooled

LOL? Serena is absolutely stunning. That body….

    • jackle61

That makes no sense with this article. These are women athletes that are more famous for their looks than for their performance in their sport. The Williams sisters have ruled their sport for years, so yes, they are known more for their performance than their looks. Moron.

      • Mad Maxx

        It’s called irony, you idiot!

    • Ph

      Actually they’re pretty good looking.

Also, that’s not very nice alex.

    • donallover

Ottie, sad, sad indeed… Disciple of Jessie, Al and Louis perhaps?

    • Anthony D’Orazio

      Actually, they do about Serena.

  • Oldbear60

They are athletes, better than the vast majority of the viewers and readers. That said, they are HOT and worth a look any day.

  • Yea_Uhuh

Lingerie leagues is not a sport. It’s exactly what its title implies. Modeling and showing off your body.

    • Anthony D’Orazio

I poked a little bit at that in my comment, but really, they are athletes, too. They’re just athletes who are being exploited a little more than others.

  • seeker

This may be the most asinine post I’ve ever seen. Tyler is just a complete idiot. Besides the obvious (much of which has already been stated) let’s give him ‘credit’ for a complete ignorance of sports. #2 Sara Galimberti is a “long distance sprinter” ??? What is that? Is she a sprinter or a long distance runner? Two completely different events Tyler. At least do a little research. Rant Sports should give you your walking papers pal.

I would guess that any one of these athletes would kick his male chauvinist ass.

    • JDallas

But at least he got one thing right. They are all hot!

    • bumsrush

don’t get your cunt in a wad.

  • Don

I think Michelle Jenneke has only competed in Junior events so far so it is pretty hard to win an event as a adult.

  • Nikki

Anna Kournikova was the youngest semi finalist at Wimbledon, a Grand Slam tourney. Anna was ranked in the top 10 and has beaten the likes of Lindsay Davenport, Steffi Graf, and Martina Hingis. Anna was a multi Grand Slam champion in doubles. If not for injuries she would have won more. Anna was a true athlete compared to some of these lingerie football players and wrestlers.

    • craiggnt

I did not realize nearly all Olympic athletes won medals except these few shown here. To be honest I could not tell you a single name of any Olympic winner in the last Olympics. There are thousands of race car drivers out there. How many make it to NASCAR and then win. Some of the great names in NASCAR did not win a lot. Michael Waltrip and Kyle Petty both had 30 years in NASCAR. Michael raced in 776 Cup races and has 4 wins. Petty raced 829 races with eight wins. This article is stupid. Few people can say they have made it as far as these woman have. They are beautiful woman which most woman can not say. They competed with the best . I guess we all can not be as perfect as the author of this article. Just out of curiosity ,how many Pulitzer prize’s does the writer have?

  • Nikki

Lolo Jones is one of the top hurdlers in the world. To say that she didn’t medal is a slam.

  • Nikki

To lump a WWE wrestler and some lingerie football models with Olympians and a former tennis star is just plain wrong and stupid. Alana Blanchard is a beauty and one of the top surfers in the world but she hasn’t won a world championship. Does she belong on the list?

  • Derp

Apparently, there is a new definition of the word “famous” that I don’t know about. Because, other than Kornacorva(?), Patrick, and that attention-craving Lolo, I have never even heard of any of these bimbos.

  • Alex Yamach

Female athlete? Isn’t that some kind of oxymoron. Nobody cares if a female is an athlete.

People only care about what a women looks like, what she wears, and who she is dating,
This proven by the fact that gossip, tabloid, fashion and beauty magazines far outsell women’s sports magazines.

Princess Diana never competed in a sporting event or won one, but was more well known and popular and had more fans and followers than any female athlete ever has.

  • Ire Jay

where did you get this list, I haven’t even heard of half these people. seriously is wwe wrestling really a sport? Its entertainment……

    • Amanda

I agree where ever they got this list is a bunch of shit . but on the other hand ..Ire have you ever wrestled ? it take skill to twist someones body into a pretzel take them off their feet and put them in agonizing positions to make them submit .tell that to a women wrestler and she’ll make you beg for mercy .tell that to a MMA chick and she’ll knock you teeth out, break your ribs and punch you till you pass out . this list I can’t take seriously , but Chris “Cyborg Santos and Rhonda Rousy I can .. both arn’t gonna make the list because their not that pretty though

      • Ire Jay

i’m sorry you must have took it the wrong way, I didn’t mean that wrestling isn’t a sport or anything negative. I really do understand that wrestling is a competitive sport, i do know the pain and sufferings these women and men on tv go through. Now i totally agree both those 2 women can kick my ass no doubt, am I gonna try NOPE. And there is many more that can. Cyborg she is a great mms fighter, she has my respect. As a fighter and lady. Rhonda nah not feeling her, not on her band wagon. gina carano i think she can beat rhonda. but my fav Female fighter? Sarah Kauffman I love watching her fight, she shows no fear and she likes to throw…. ALOHAS

  • Jeff

The author has a funny idea of what the word “famous” means. I have only heard of two of these chicks. Danica Patrick and Anna Kournicova, (I probably killed the spelling of both, I don’t care, you know who I mean)

  • http://thoughtsfromamiddleagedcollegestudent.blogspot.com/ Michael Young

Here’s the thing. In my book, anyone who can make it to the Olympics or play professional golf or tennis is a top notch athlete and I would love to have just a fraction of their talent. That being said, I think the author does have a point. Take Kournikova for example. Someone posted that she was once ranked #8 in the world…great. However, how many people could name #’s 1-7? Aside from the Williams’ sisters, I’m guessing few people could name very many of the ranked players. Also, Lolo Jones. Who can name (off the top of their head) the winner in the hurdles in those two Olympic games. I could go on, but the point is that there are a lot of top notch athletes in the world (including several on this list), but for the most part, these women are only famous because they are very attractive. It’s a sad statement of our culture, but the attractive people get more attention, even in athletics.

  • balashi

“Often, people don’t actually consider whether a female athlete is actually good at what they do, or if they just have the looks of a model. With that in mind, here are 15 hot female athletes who are only famous for their looks.”

Translation: People don’t usually consider whether or not a female athlete is good at sports if she’s hot – with that in mind, here is another article that further promotes this obvious sexism – enjoy the boobs now!!

    • msnyc10

Translation; even if you are not talented at anytihng you can have money and fame attention if you are a pretty woman. I’ll bet that is one kind of sexims all 15 of these women are highly grateful for.

  • balashi

It’s photos like these that make me ignore any female athlete bitching about not being taken seriously…

  • Bobby Healey

So they are famous for their looks. At least they have some talent enough to be professional athletes. We make the biggest idiots famous just by watching their useless selves on TV. Ask the Kardashians, Robertsons, Jersey Shore, and other over hyped biased idiotic “reality” stars. At least the Robertsons have a duck call. But they are a gimmick that anyone with internet can see for themselves that prior to the AMC show, they were polo shirt, clean cut yuppies at the country club just a few months before their “reality” show started. Just looking at their wives, who are evening gown, debutante fashion idolizers unless there’s a photo shoot of the entire family, where they don their camo gowns.

  • Glenn Stein

Kournikova and Jones don’t belong on this list. While both may be disproportionately famous because of their looks, they might not be famous at all if not for being among the top athletes in their respective sports.

  • John Smith

Maybe female athletes are hot because they take care of their bodies. Does anyone really care whether or not they are ranked among the world elites in their sport? They made it. They are professional athletes. Let us break it down this way. There are hundreds of thousands of high school athletes. Somewhere around 1% of those athletes get recruited into a Division IA program. Somewhere around 1% of them make it to become professional athletes. Give these women their due or just continue to sit on your couch and judge. Probably what you did when everyone else was playing sports.

  • John Smith

Lolo Jones…only famous for her looks, REALLY can any of you can get of the couch and beat her in a 40 yard sprint. I would like to see it. Not to mention what it takes to become a US Olympic athlete. Or any of the women represented here.

  • John Smith

They are hot because they are female athletes and strive to take care of their bodies. Be contrite and jealous if you will, but continue to sit on the couch or in the chair and dream about the things these women have accomplished

  • John Smith

    Tyler Leli…WTF have you accomplished?

  • dgt178

…kournikova may never have won a title….but she sure looked good in her attempts…..

  • lakawak

Even for a worthless blog that has never turned a profit, this is an ignorant list.

  • Kurt

Hey, where art the pix and article? I’ve reloaded a dozen times,se sponsored content but no article or pix. What (doesn’t)give(s)?

  • 1rdd

Say what you want about these pretty athletes but they at least have talent which is something the Kardashians don’t have.

    • Mad Maxx

Kinda the point…they really don’t have much talent…or at least not as much talent as looks! And yes, they are definitely better than the Kartrashians!

      • flhtcu

The point that’s being missed here by this idiot writer is that they Do have significant talent -but their looks accencuated their career. But, they do have a lot of talent. Just because you’re not the best in the world doesn’t mean at all that you don’t have talent.

So… Does that make Adrian Peterson a football player that isn’t any good at what he does because the Vikings have never won a Superbowl?

This article makes no sense. Lots of people are good at sports, and play at a professional level without ever winning a championship. Does Dan Marino suck as a quarterback? The Dolphins never won a title.

And as far as the Olympians go? How does one even make it as an Olympic athlete if you are bad at what you do?

    • Mad Maxx

He’s on a team sport…and most of these women are not…that would be one of the points of the article.

      • Voice of logic

        still dumb…

  • Ess Swipe

I am SO SICK of jealous hags saying Anna Kournikova was only famous for her looks. She was ranked NUMBER ONE IN THE WORLD in doubles. *You* try and get that ranking.

  • Beth

All I’m seeing is the author putting down athletes for taking sexy photos while not being The Very Best at their sport. These women are default treated like trash because they haven’t “earned” the right to be treated with respect. It’s a twisted, sick way of thinking.

    They’re being punished for trying.

    • Mad Maxx

I disagree…many of those women ARE famous because of their looks and self promotion and not from accomplishments in their respective fields.

  • Alpo

Has the author won anything other than the title of Most Envious?

What Olympic qualifiers did you win?

Get a life and leave these good looking women free of your drooling harassment.

  • Ronald Zuprin

“Sierra Quitiquit” – Seriously … her last name is “quit I quit” or possibly “Quitty quit” ?!?? Either way … oh man …

  • gtiger

Not that I complain, but some of these women are in sports just because people want to sex up sports (for example the women of WWE.)

  • Terry

Making the Olympic team is succeeding in your sport!1

  • Chuckawobbly

Right because females should only be ogled at instead of earning respect for their talent. What a moronic ‘article’.

  • Amanda

these ladies aren’t professionals !common one win in a 13 year career !? didn’t medal in the olympics .. no ones ever heard of some of these ladies until they do a sexy photo shoot .Is it that hard to highlight womens achievements in REAL sports ? what about the womens basketball, medalist olympics , MMA , rugby ?!!!! this is a shitty list of real professionals made a fluff piece for men to drool over .

  • Caffeine99

Sour grapes story. Some people are fortunate enough to be both very good looking and athletic, no need to be all bitter about it, geez.

  • Citizen X

Putting Lolo Jones on this list is stupid. Unlike your lingerie athletes and low level golfers, Lolo made two Olympic finals and has set American records. Ridiculous to compare her to these other nobodies.

  • RobertBruce1975

Pretty good list, but give Ellen Hoog another look. She has actual accomplishments.

  • donallover

Ottie, sad, sad indeed… Disciple of Jessie, Al and Louis perhaps?

    • Margo

      Wrong story idiot

  • Airborn1

So what? I’m sure they are wonderful people. I wish I knew more.

  • bigfish344

Lolo Jones came within an eyelash of being an O.G. gold medalist and in the next games, she finished 4th. Don’t know about you, but to me being 4th best in the world in an Olympic event makes her pretty damn good.

  • Johnny

Many of the women on this list are legit athletes… *smh*

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1TqsoxWhQY

  • Larry Larson

Kournikova was ranked number 1 in the world in doubles, and number 8 in singles. You should have someone — anyone! — on your staff with that level of excellence in any field.

  • Sergio

. . . Or could it be that they’re famous female athletes that also happen to be attractive. I find it hard to believe that there are people who think that a famous, attractive woman can only be famous because she is attractive; no other attributes considered. That is not only sexist and assumptive, but also illogical.

The author seems unable to discern beauty from talent so he ranks these accomplished women with the only way he and that void that occupies his cranium know how; “hotness”. The minor mentions of their accomplishments- if given- are patronizing, at best.

    Shit article, shit ethics.

  • Caymus

A fool wrote this piece. Anna Kournikova was a World Juniors Tennis Champion and an accomplished Tennis Doubles Champion winning two Grand Slam titles in Doubles, eight WTA doubles titles, and being ranked #1 in the world.

  • Shizzle Fo’Rizzle

The Williams sisters have been PED’ing so long they are hung better than most men (except me).

  • TheCommonDominator

do we really care if they win or not? this is a dumb article

  • Lulu

And there are certainly no male athletes who get by on their good looks, right? I’m sick of these BS pieces sh itting on women. I came here just to say that or I would never have clicked on the stupid article.

  • Margo

Using the “work” of a sex-crazed teenage horny kid to post Yahoo? really yahoo!?

    https://www.facebook.com/tyler.leli/photos

  • flyhigh33

Yikes!! So what they’re saying is that smoking hot women can excel… and do very, very well without a lot of talent?? Now that there is a shocker!

There are some awfully fine looking ladies laying around on this article. They may not have won gold but I’d feel like I had were I ever fortunate enough (won’t happen) to spent a night or a very sweaty weekend with one of them. The only one that stands out is Danica Patrick. Compared to the rest of these genuine head-turners,… she looks pretty scrawny and very plain. Give Danica a 4 out of 10 at best. She’s famous for being a joke really.

  • disqus_ZRJZom6PH1

This article is misogyny at it’s finest! Thanks Tyler!

  • Eileen

Ellen Hoog has two Olympic gold medals, but, hey, she’s only famous for her looks.

Yeah, attractive female athletes get more attention than plain ones, but if winning two Olympic gold medals doesn’t count as being good at your sport, the world has even fewer truly talented athletes than anyone thought.

  • H0MIE

Lolo Jones was once a great hurdler even if she did not win an Olympics medal.

  • D. Will

Lolo Jones does happen to be a very good looking lady, however to say she is only famous because she’s hot, is absurd. Actually it’s stupid. Whomever is responsible for this article obviously knows nothing about track and field. Lolo is an 11 time All American at LSU, a 3 time national champ at LSU, a 2 time world champ, and not only won many professional races, but dominated the Diamond League for a few years. If you’ve never heard of the Diamond League, it’s the premier circuit for professional track and field athletes, during the summer season, in which most of the races are in Europe, where people regularly watch, and understand the sport. When she fell at the olympics, she was dominating that race as well, and was ranked 1st, coming into the olympics. She was the absolute best for a period, and even at her current age (31), which is old for a sprinter, she’s still competitive. She placed 3rd in a Diamond league meet last week.

  • D. Will

Lolo Jones is a very good looking lady, but to list her as someone who’s only famous for her looks is absurd. It’s actually stupid. Lolo is an 11 time collegiate All American, 3 time collegiate National Champion, 2 time World Champion, and she dominated the world track and field scene for a few years. When she fell, in the olympics, after clipping the final hurdle, not only was she crushing the world’s best competition, she was ranked number 1 in the world coming into the olympics. Even now, at 31 years of age, which is reasonably old for a sprinter, she’s still very competitive, coming in 3rd in the most recent Diamond League meet. Most Diamond League meets are held in Europe, where people are actually fans of, and follow track and field. Many Americans only pay attention to the sport every 4 years, when the olympics are televised. Many sprinters have a window of less than 4 years for peak performance. Some of the greats have a broader span of time, which is what makes them great (i.e. Carl Lewis, Michael Johnson, Edwin Moses, Usain Bolt). Lolo happens to be one of the best female hurdlers in the last decade.

  • Rita Cerniglia

Seriously? Number eight had two gold Olympic medals.

  • guest9

OK so the list seemed OK to start but then it hits Lolo Jones. Come on, you just lost 100% credibility there. How the heck do you compare an Olympian to a Lingerie Bowler? She was one stumble from a freaking gold medal! So she has had gold medal speed in her. Do you know how freaking seriously insanely great of an athlete you have to be to be Olympics medalist class in sprinting?? Meanwhile you’d be lucky to clear the first hurdle by the time this ‘only famous for her looks’ athlete is. Oh and she only happened to get two gold medals in the indoor world championships.

    • guest9

A few others such as Hoog are dumb picks too. Yeah not a lot of people closely follow field hockey here, but so what, she is still an Olympic athlete good enough to make a multiple gold medal winning team.

Kournakova may not be a Sharapova, at least not for singles, but you are strongly underrating her skills as an athlete all the same.

      etc.

    • guest9

I will give you that at least all of them actually are hot, so you managed to get that part right at least.

  • Joe

Ellen Hoog has 2 Gold Medals but isn’t a successful athlete? You got to be kidding. How many medals has this article writer won?

  • Brokenstriker

Lolo Jones doesn’t deserve to be on this list … sure she’s hot and is famous for that and her approach to relationships … but Two time world champion in the 60m hurdles … I get the Olympics breakdown but it was against the same basic level of competition at the World Championships in 2008 and 2010 … that’s legit

    • Joseph Downing

The same goes for Anna Kournikova. Everyone she’s lost to in major tournaments she has beaten at other events. The author’s implication is that she was nothing more than an also-ran. She’s two times world champion in doubles for god’s sake! And by the age of 22. And the youngest to make the semis in Wimbledon history. She even won her professional debut at the Fed Cup… At 14! Are there any women aside from the Williams sisters who have accomplished so much at such a young age in pro tennis before her?

  • Pi_Boson

I do not believe Golf is really a “sport” with “athletes”. I do not believe one gets “trained” as a golfer, you just spend a lot of time trying to hit your balls.

  • vaffangool

Track and field ain’t exactly figure skating. You don’t make the U.S. Olympic team based on looks. Lolo Jones was selected for three different squads—all on merit.

But does she enjoy greater celebrity because of her looks? Absolutely.

  • Midlife Crisis

I follow sports pretty closely, and I’ve only heard of two of these women – EVER!

And as far as the whole thing with the Williams sisters being sexy – well maybe, but only if you like making love to a linebacker or a wildebeest. No thanks to a 250 pound lover.

  • mattinvt

#3 has the same caption as #4.

  • jack

The author has a writing job, just no talent and too many biases.

  • Ronald Redeaux

@alexyamach:disqus: I do believe this article is for women who use their looks to get ahead while pretending to be athletes. The Williams sisters are true athletes and are two of the best in their profession. And they’re every bit as attractive as most of the women pictured above. But it’s obvious you couldn’t relate to that type of beauty if you tried. You’re more into the trailer park crackhead look that Danica Patrick captures to a tee.

  • builtwell

Many of these so-called “non-athletes” are Olympic competitors! That means each one has ended up one of the handful chosen from an entire NATION of competitors! So they didn’t win a medal – The entire USA only managed 28 medals in the winter Olympics… Wow, I thought the 300+ MILLION people in the USA could manage to come up with at least a couple of dozen sports competitors, but by the standards of this article, the entire US only fielded 23 people actually qualified to be described as athletes. What CRAP! This kind of stupid, unintellectual pablum is what gives “media” it’s well deserved bad name. Send this “author” back to junior college, so he can find a new field where he can excel… like, maybe, ditch digging.

  • Amanda Debreceni

I love how if you click on the admin dude’s link from the article, you get nothing but ten more articles about female pro athletes in their panties. What a total creep!

  • Adam Johnson

Writer just sounds lonely and bitter. Some of these are almost legit but making it to the Olympics qualifies you as a world class athlete, you don’t have to medal to be the real deal.

  • Ernest Ivy

Oh yeah, right…like there’s another reason why a naked woman is famous.

  • Wisest Comments

Talented or not these women are extremely valuable for the growth and popularity of their sports. More specifically, this definitely applies in the golf world. Due to a lack of attractive competitors in addition to the number of lesbians involved, the LPGA Tour simply does not attract attention (of the average male). The attractive women help increase popularity which benefits all involved in the association.

If you’re a female athlete and you’re hot, you’re always going to be more famous for your hotness. That says more about the current state of our culture than it does about these girls.

  • miron

Williams sisters are famous because they are good tennis player

  • bumsrush

Finally, a story that doesn’t namby pamby about these so-called athletes’ abilities, especially Danica Patrick.

  • princessapea

This article is pretty horrible. It’s like down playing a nobel piece prize recipient because they didn’t cure cancer. Really? Mr. Tyler Leli, how many medals have you won lately?

  • Stan H

Not completely true about Kournikova. She not only made it to the semifinals at the 1997 Wimbledon in singles, she won 16 doubles titles, including the Australian open (twice), and eventually make it to #1 in the world in doubles.

  • Seth Lindgren

Lolo Jones is a two-time World Indoor champion – 2008 and 2010. Tyler, you are a moron.

  • Justin Coupe

Lolo Jones won gold medals at World Indoor competitions in 08 and 10. After already proving she was the best at what she did, she TRIPPED in Beijing 2008, which is just unfortunate. She holds the American record in 60 m hurdles, and she even won gold at bob sledding in the 13 World Championships. Winning gold in two entirely different sports at WORLD competitions proves that at one point or another you were the best at what you did.

Including her on this list is straight up disrespectful, she’s accomplished more than 90% of male athletes. I’m not visiting here again, try actually knowing about subject matter before posting a fundamentally misogynistic article.

  • Cory

The reverse-path subject of the American un-entertainment dis-industry among fans is discouraging; we only reward people multi-million dollars and fortune just because of their looks, rather than their work performed with heart, blood, and soul; it’s no different that offending the policy of rules of stealing company time on a job, but in the surreal celebrity world… employment ethics are irreverent to the value of American productivity, and are an insult to injury against the detrimental middle class effectively pursuing to reach that platform of achievement; through, ethical compliance of facilitated tasks of outstanding record of thorough activity experience. We live in a decadent generation that has been bought by lies implanting an unconscionable notion that counterproductive success is evil, rather than instituting instilled cored principles of planting a citrus grove of a harvest if you consistently apply the implied worth of measured work engineered, harassing the positioned foundation of honorability to the soul suitable to the self-acquired dedication to learning obedience; irony of impractical discouragement is dismaying to the earned rejection of valid employers, of the well-scholastic and the Conservative above-leveled overclass neglected .

  • Dave Hogg

Lolo Jones is a two-time world champion in the 60-meter hurdles, the US record holder in the 60-meter hurdles, a world silver medalist in the 100-meter hurdles, missed Olympic goal in 2008 when she hit the last hurdle, finished fourth in the Olympics in 2012 and then qualified for the Winter Olympics in bobsled, and helped the US win the team world championship in 2013. But yeah, she’s only famous for her looks.

  • oldsalt64

    Michelle Jenneke

    1st place (100m hurdles) – 2010 Australian Junior Championships
1st place (4x100m relay) – 2010 Australian Junior Championships (Australian record)
2nd place (100m hurdles) – 2010 Summer Youth Olympics, Singapore
4th place (“Swedish medley” relay) – 2010 Summer Youth Olympics, Singapore
    3rd place (100m hurdles) – 2011 Australian Championships
5th place – (100m hurdles) 2012 World Junior Championships in Athletics, Barcelona, Spain

She’s also going to University to study Engineering. Stupid story, and obviously the author never even tried to find out anything about these females.

  • 1mlw1

This article is so pretentious, so full of malarkey, that it borders on fraud. Why are you hating? They can make a lot of money, have a lot of fun, look good doing it, and have you pissed off to boot. Seems to me that they have it made…big time!

  • valerie

You promote it, salivate over it, and then you diss it. Pond scum. Olympics in track and field for the U.S.? Just getting there means you’re pretty frick’n good. Hmmm . . . maybe this snippy commentary comes from an insecurity about having neither good looks or talent. But only you know, apparently. Pity.

  • Anthony D’Orazio

Yeah, you’re off base on this one.

Kournikova’s a Grand Slam winning doubles player. More than once.
Lolo Jones has been World Indoor hurdle champion. More than once.
Anna Sidarova took bronze at this year world championship and has won gold at Europeans (Saitova was on both teams)
Your inclusion of Ellen Hoog is an admittance that the US audience isn’t well versed in her sport. (I mean, it isn’t football, so how could we be?)
Danica Patrick has won more races as a driver than Richard Childress did. And the late Dick Trickle. Don’t forget her top 5 Indy 500 finishes.
Natalie Gulbis has one official LPGA win, but she keeps finishing high enough on the money list to keep her tour card, so that’s saying something.
And hasn’t Michelle Jenneke – who some intern was too lazy to properly caption – taken enough heat for her cute little viral video when she is an accomplished athlete?

You went to minor leagues and lingerie league players for the rest. Gee, what next – gonna pick on Ashley Force, Rachel Homan, Carling Bassett-Seguso, Soo Yeon Lee, or any of the large number of accomplished female athletes who dare to compete at the top levels of their sports AND be someone traditionally attractive?

    • sspistol

Dick Trickle won 2 Nascar races nor was he very famous outside of racing circles. I’d also say that most people outside of racing don’t have a clue who Richard Childress is even now. Danicant has won 1 rained out open wheel race in Japan. She’s a subpar stock car driver who only has a ride because her sponsor bought her a seat. She’s NOT famous because of her driving skills. She should be on the top of this list.

  • All Purpose Al

The gal from the Netherlands with two gold medals in field hockey should not be on this list.

  • http://sportingnerds.com Sco Jo

This is just a “hater” list. Lolo Jones is legit. Danica Patrick was the first woman to accomplish a lot of things in racing. Most of these women could probably outrun and out-lift the author. Just because you don’t win it all every time doesn’t mean you’re just famous for your looks.

  • merpalerp

what so just because these women are really attractive they’re automatically only famous because of that? How bout the only reason anybody even knows their name is because they’re good enough at what they do that someone noticed how hot they are…forreals. this is kinda twisted.
