With the NCAA men’s basketball tournament set to take flight Monday night, the focus is hardly on the NCAA women’s national championship that will be played on Tuesday. However, the attention should be on them because the Connecticut Huskies and Notre Dame Fighting Irish will play in the most highly anticipated national championship matchup of all time.

Never in the history of women’s basketball have there been two undefeated teams set to square off against each other in the final game to decide the champions of the tournament. UConn (39-0) and Notre Dame (37-0) will surely have their work cut out for them. Neither team knows what it’s like to lose nor do they want the felling that accompanies it.

In all honesty, no one is really surprised that these two teams found each other in the title game. UConn and Notre Dame are powerhouses in women’s basketball. Not to mention, they have dominated every single team that has stood in their way this season. UConn is considered to be the greatest program in the history of the sport, while Notre Dame has emerged as a great talent over the years.

What makes the matchup even more exciting is that UConn and Notre Dame are very familiar with each other. In fact, the national championship will be the 16th time in the past five seasons that the two teams will share the same basketball court. Not to mention, it’s the fourth consecutive year that the two schools will face-off in the Final Four. Whichever team comes out on top will have the ultimate bragging rights going forward.

The men’s basketball national championship is guaranteed to be loaded with talent. With that being said, the women’s matchup might just be the more exciting contest.
