Tony Reali: From Stat Boy To Good Morning America
Tony Reali has become a staple of ESPN afternoon television over the last decade. He of course got his start as ‘Stat Boy’ on PTI and then was promoted to host of Around the Horn. Now, he’s going to be taking his talents to Good Morning America. That’s right, Stat Boy is all grown up.
For fans of ATH, don’t worry. Reali will remain as the show’s host, but it will be moving to New York. ATH will now be filmed in Times Square Studios, a la Keith Olbermann’s show.
This does mean one devastating thing — Reali, aka Stat Boy, will no longer be appearing on PTI.
We all knew this day was coming, but it will be sad to see him go. But from his perspective, this was a great career move. If you were in his shoes, you’d jump ship to New York and GMA as well. He’s 35-years old and certainly outgrown his infamous nickname.
There’s no word yet on who will take his place on PTI.
As for ATH moving to New York, I like it. It will give the show a fresh feel and a new look. Now they just have to work on eliminating some of the morons that appear on the show.
Anybody who’s watched the show more than a few times develops favorites and others they could do without. That’s part of what makes it so fun to watch. But the glue that holds it all together is no doubt Reali and his mute button.
