What was going on in the sports world 15-20 years ago? Actually, a lot of the same things that are going on today and this weekend. The NBA Conference Finals were underway, baseball was in full swing and the Indy 500 was upcoming.
Let's take a look at TBT for May 22nd, as far back as 20 years ago in 1994:
Fisher is still playing in 2014, while Stockton is considered to be a candidate for the Jazz's head coaching vacancy.
The Bulls and Knicks squared off in the 1994 Eastern Conference semi-finals. It was the Bulls first season without Michael Jordan, and they ultimately lost to the Knicks in seven games.
Phil apparently wasn't rocking the visor back in '97. He was also nearly seven years away from winning his first Major.
That swing pose was almost as popular as the Jumpman 20 years ago. 'Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball' for SNES also came out in 1994.
Remember B.J. Armstrong? Here he is attempting to take Patrick Ewing baseline, all while Phil Jackson photobombs the whole thing.
Pedro in an Expos uni just looks plain weird, but there's no crying in baseball.
Throwback Larry Legend and Donnie Walsh photo. This was shortly after Bird was hired to coach the Pacers, which he did for three seasons. His stint included a run to the Finals in 2000.
Vintage Kobe back when his knees still felt great. Thanks to doctors in Germany, his knees now feel a little more like 1998 than they should.
Smoke cigarettes. That's what a lot of old sports advertisements used to say, including Al Unser Jr.'s Indy Car in 1994.
Wade Boggs holding down third base in the Bronx, sporting his trademark stache.
