It certainly wasn't easy, but Maria Sharapova came away from Saturday with the 2014 French Open, her second-ever victory at the event. While she has obviously made her mark on the world of women's tennis, many around the world know this gorgeous goddess for her beauty. So in celebration of her big win today, we've put together a little slideshow to remind you that Sharapova is more than just a great tennis player.
Sharapova was born in Russia, but currently resides in Florida when she isn't ruling the courts.
After moving to the United States in 1994, she began training at various academies.
Sharapova made her professional debut in 2001 on her birthday, but failed to get past the second round of the tournament.
After years of hard work, it all paid off in 2004 when she won Wimbledon, officially skyrocketing herself into the elite ranks of women's tennis.
In 2005, she finally earned herself the distinction of No. 1 women's tennis player in the world.
When she isn't dominating opponents, Sharapova is signing numerous endorsement deals with brands such as Porsche, Motorola and Maxim.
Since her rise to stardom, Sharapova has won five Grand Slams in Singles, including Wimbledon (2004), the U.S. Open (2006), the Australian Open (2008) and her two French Opens (2012, 2014).
On Saturday, she defeated Simona Halep to secure her second French Open while reasserting herself as one of the best (and hottest) women's tennis players in the world.
