An avid fan of fighting sports and martial arts, Kumar has been hosting the annual Akshay Kumar Invitational Kudo (Judo, Karate) since 2009. He has also helped to set up The Women's Self Defense Center-WSDC in an effort to offer self defense classes to women for free.

Preity Zinta has been seen on the sidelines of professional cricket matches dating back to 2008. The ever-so-popular actress is the co-owner of of Kings XI Punjab of the Indian Premier League. She owns the team along with ex-boyfriend Ness Wadia. Kings XI Punjab had a phenomenal IPL season in 2014, losing in the championship match to Kolkata Knight Riders.
