Lionel Messi and Usain Bolt Show Off Speed and Grace in Gatorade Ad

Usain Bolt

Kirby Lee- USA TODAY Sports

The World Cup has finally kicked off, and it could not have started with more scandal than Brazil’s penalty kick. I will admit to being a little bit peeved at the US team for leaving Landon Donovan off of the squad, and I am still crossing my fingers for an injury replacement.

That ship, regrettably, has passed.

You might want to check out Gatorade’s latest spot though, because it features international superstars Lionel Messi and Usain Bolt. You can view it below, and it got a lot of positive comments from the folks that I was watching Game 4 of the NBA Finals with.

That game was a beat down by the way, and I think the NBA Finals are officially over. Soccer is not my main sport during the year, but the World Cup is a truly special event. I am truly looking forward to it. Just in case you were wondering, my favorite to win it is the host country. I know Brazil got a little bit of referee help in that last match, and they could end up riding that momentum all the way to the top.

As for the spot, I think it is great to encourage hard work in the summertime, but also hydration. Especially for all of our athletes in the warmer areas of the globe like Brazil, be sure that you are hydrating well enough to replenish your fluids and electrolytes. We all saw what happened to LeBron James, possibly the most dynamic athlete in the world, when the AC went out in Game 1.
