Professional athletes seem to dominate the world nowadays. That may be a little bold, but no one can argue that pro athletes do not have a bunch of power. On that note, let’s take a look at 15 athletes who have way more power than they should.

All 15 of these athletes definitely deserve some power and the reasoning behind their power may be obvious, but they have too much power nonetheless.

Ryan Howard is a player who once hit 58 dingers in one season. Well, he hasn’t hit over 14 in the past three years. With that said, he already has 14 this year. He is definitely not the player that he used to be. He is just a wee bit overrated, though.

Jeff Gordon used to be the fastest man on the face of the earth. In a car that is. He is still one of the most popular NASCAR drivers, but he has only won seven races in the last six years.

13. Chris Bosh, NBA

Chris Bosh does not get as much hype as he used to, and that is exactly how it should be. However, he is still considered part of the Big 3 in South Beach. LeBron James has definitely been carrying the weight in Miami as of late.

12. Dwight Howard, NBA

Dwight Howard played for the Los Angeles Lakers for one season because, apparently, he was too good for them, or something like that. He is one of the best scoring centers in the game and is coming off of a great season, but you would think he would be more dominating by the way he acts — basically chooses whatever team he wants to be on.

11. Alexander Ovechkin, NHL

Alexander Ovechkin is one heck of a goal scorer, but he never shows up in the playoffs. Yes, Sidney Crosby is not the only good player on Pittsburgh, but his team is consistently one of the best. Oh yeah, and Crosby has won a title. But hey, at least Ovechkin can put the puck in the back of the net at a high rate.

Suh has had his fair share of fines in the NFL. If he was any other player, he would have probably been suspended for a good amount of time by now. However, he is a great talent and a little too powerful. Luckily, he is not untouchable.

Rory McIlroy very well could be the next superstar in golf — already deemed that by some — but he has not been that great as of late. Yes, he has already won two majors, but he has not lived up to the hype ever since his huge Nike deal.

8. Dale Earnhardt Jr., NASCAR

His dad was a great driver. However, Jr. is not his dad and he never will be. Yet, he could be considered the face of NASCAR. Well, he is at least considered the most popular driver. May I remind you that Jimmie Johnson dominates the sport when it comes to titles.

7. Rob Gronkowski, NFL

Gronk would probably be one of the best players if he could stay on the field. However, he gets injured all of the time. This is a player who was seen partying after a loss in the Super Bowl. Very professional, but I guess personal and business life should be separated.

6. Carmelo Anthony, NBA

Carmelo Anthony is a great scorer, but he is no LeBron James. However, he has every team — that has a realistic chance of landing him — going crazy in this year’s free agency.

Cristiano Ronaldo is without a doubt one of the best athletes on the planet. The man scores left and right. He is also one of the highest paid athletes. Money is power, people.

Kobe Bryant is another player who makes a bunch of money. He hasn’t been on the court very much the past season or so, yet he still remains one of the most popular players in the league. Bryant could probably get away with anything, and yes, I mean anything.

3. Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods has not won a major in what feels like forever. If he is playing in a tournament, golf gets good ratings. If he is not playing in a tournament, well, I am sure the ratings go way down. That is especially true in majors. He absolutely dominates the golf headlines.

2. LeBron James, NBA

LeBron James is the best basketball player in the world, but he has too much power. He got his own special on ESPN for the announcement of what team he was going to choose a few years back.

Floyd Mayweather makes a massive amount of money for each fight. He is not afraid to spend that money either. The highest-paid athlete in the world is going to have way too much power. It is as simple as that.
