10 Sports Movies That Are Terribly Awesome

There are classics like Rudy, Field of Dreams and Any Given Sunday, but there are also movies that are so bad, they're good. Here are 10 movies that have you asking yourself why you're watching them, yet you just can't seem to turn them off.

Seann William Scott steps away from the Stifler role he's known for and plays Doug Glatt, an enforcer who dons the No. 69 and gets his big break after he beats up an opposing player from the stands. The movie has its moments, and has been adapted by hockey players around the nation, but the Glatt character is so over the top, it's impossible to take the underlying emotional themes of the film serious. He can't even skate in the movie. Come on.

In The Ringer, Johnny Knoxville plays a healthy man who pretends to be mentally challenged in order to win the Special Olympics. He must rig the Special Olympics so that his uncle will win a bet and the money earned will go toward sewing back on the fingers of Stavi, a former janitor who Knoxville hired to work on his property. The premise makes the film grueling to watch at times, but is also littered with hilarious one-liners.

Blades of Glory is undoubtedly hilarious, but the concept of two men skating together in pairs figure skating is the epitome of a hyperbolic plot line. The ridiculousness of the movie is saved only by fantastic performances by the film's loaded cast, which includes Will Ferrell, Jon Heder and Amy Poehler.

I don't know which part of Lil' Bow Wow putting on a pair of sneakers that were struck by lightning and gave him the basketball skills of Michael Jordan makes Like Mike almost unwatchable, but it's probably the part where Lil' Bow Wow puts on a pair of sneakers that were struck by lightning and gets the basketball skills of Michael Jordan. The absolute absurdity of the film somehow keeps you watching, and the acting isn't bad for a B-list film.

The first Major League is an absolute classic, and while Major League 2 was a major step back from the original, the third one makes the sequel look like Field of Dreams. Movie critic Phil Villarreal put it best when he said that Major League 3 was "the final bloop single for a tired series."

5. The Big Green

The Big Green came out two years after The Sandlot, and while it stars Patrick Renna, who plays Ham Porter (the catcher) in the baseball classic, the film based around a childhood soccer squad never gets a good grip on the pitch. Renna, who plays the keeper in the film, keeps you entertained, but it's a complete disappointment for anyone who expects another instant classic.

4. Juwanna Mann

Miguel Nunez Jr. does a fantastic job playing egomaniac Jamal Jeffries who becomes Juwanna Mann after being banned from the NBA, but the storyline itself is so bland and predictable that every time you watch it, you're hoping it will end differently. Nunez Jr. does his best to make Juwanna Mann watchable, but in the end, it's about as exciting as an air-balled free throw.

Why did a sequal need to be made? Why!? The original Caddyshack is one of the most praised sports movies and one of the greatest comedies of all time, but the sequel is so painfully bad that you can't help but sit through its entirety. It's like watching a train wreck into a tsunami that was caused by a botched stunt in an air show. You just can't turn away from this godawful swing and a miss.

So let me get this straight -- the team that just went on to win the Junior Goodwill Games as Team USA is now a junior varsity team at some prep school? Mix that unthinkable scenario with the horrendous hockey footage, and you've got the film that is by far the worst of the Mighty Ducks trilogy. Oh, and we're supposed to believe a JV/Varsity showdown is something that would seriously exist anywhere? Now you're just insulting us.

It's strange that the sequel to one of the greatest sports comedies of all time is one of the worst films ever made, but that's definitely the case with Slap Shot 2. Stephen Baldwin is the lead role and Gary Busey is the supporting actor – I think that pretty much speaks for itself. The Hanson Brothers can't even come close to saving this abomination. It's the ultimate case for a movie that's so bad, you just have to watch it.
