As a sports fan, it's likely you love sports movies as well. They provide us with some of the best stories in all of film, and that's what makes them so interesting. Here are the 10 best things about sports movies.
Since sports movies aim to be realistic based on actual sports, as a fan we can relate to most situations in sports movies. These movies appeal to emotions more because we feel as if the moments in the movie are happening to us all over again.
A lot of the best sports movies involve actual athletes. Nobody can forget some of the performances of athletes, especially in movies such as Michael Jordan in "Space Jam".
With all the drama surrounding sports movies, heroes have to step up. In sports movies, more than any other genre, heroes rise and become a point of inspiration for the audience.
Some of the most intense scenes in sports movies come during actual game action. How those are shot usually brings about plenty of emotion because it gets up close and personal with the athletes and main characters of the movie.
Some of the best roles in sports movies have been played by the coaches. They're the ones who have to rally the troops before the big game, and as a result, some of the best scenes usually center around the coach.
In sports movies, the good guy wins most of the time. However, even when the good guy doesn't win, sports movies leave us feeling good about the movie as a whole. Not many genres can claim that about most of their movies.
Everyone likes to root for an underdog, and sports movies almost always involve those. Storylines where the little guy has to climb the mountain and beat a powerhouse team are some of the best in all of film.
Knowing a sports movie is based on a true story just makes it that much better. Thinking about the fact that all the drama you're witnessing actually happened in some capacity in real life is pretty cool.
There are no other movies that create as much "real" drama as sports movies. As a season progresses throughout the film, the drama builds up and it naturally ends up being better than any other drama.
The truly great sports movies actually inspire all of us. Whether it be by the drama they create or the lessons they impart, sports movies make us feel more than any other type of movie does.
