Indian tennis legend Vijay Amritraj recently announced the launch of the Champions Tennis League (CTL). The new tournament will bring world-class talent to India, with names like Venus Williams leading the way. Here are few things to know about the creator of this new league.

He is not only a former professional athlete, Amritraj is also an actor. He starred in Octopussy, What a Country!, and Nine Deaths of the Ninja. In 1976, Vijay and his brother, Anand Amritraj, were semifinalists in the men's doubles at Wimbledon. Vijay was given the Padma Shri in 1983.

He finished with a career singles win-loss record of 384–296, winning 16 singles titles to go along with 13 in doubles. Most notably he beat John McEnroe in the first round in Cincinnati in 1984. He also had five career wins over Jimmy Connors in their 11 combined matches.

His highest rankings ever was World No. 16 in July, 1980.
