Force India co-owner Vijay Mallya confirmed earlier this week that the team has exercised an option on Sergio Perez's contract and will extend him for another 12 months.

"The possibility came of extending Checo's contract for 2016 as well and that is under negotiation."

At just 24 years of age, Perez is No. 11 in the drivers' championship. Not too shabby, considering it's just his first season with Force India.

Having made his Formula One debut in 2011, the former McLaren and Sauber driver had his best finish at Bahrain in this season's championship. He placed third.

Keeping Perez on the team means he'll again partner with German Niko Hulkenberg, pairing up for the Silverstone-based team next season. Both just participated at the Brazilian Grand Prix this weekend after posting record-breaking times in practice sessions.
