10 Athletes Who Passed Away In 2014 — They wowed us on the field, on the court and in the highest level of their sport, but even the great ones fall. Here are 10 athletes who passed away in 2014.

Alvin Dark — Alvin Dark was a professional shortstop playing in the MLB from 1946-60. He then went on to become a manager. Dark died at the age of 92 from Alzheimer’s disease on Nov. 13 2014.

Jean Béliveau — Jean Beliveau, a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame, played parts of 20 seasons in the NHL. He won two Hart Memorial Trophies, as well as an Art Ross Memorial Trophy. He currently has the most Stanley Cup victories of any person to date, with 10 as a player and seven as an executive. At the age of 83, he passed away in Montreal.
