Michael Jordan and Derek Jeter are two iconic athletes in their respective sports, and they will both get featured during the coming months in a national Gatorade commercial campaign. It celebrates 50 years of the beverage’s existence, which is quite a long time for such a string of success. The spot highlights how long of a journey the sports drink has taken, and you can check it out below.

You must have noticed during the count up to 50 that some other Gatorade signed athletes are here like Bryce Harper, Peyton Manning and Dwyane Wade, but you probably also saw that the commercial was themed around some football players doing 50 pushups. This is an important theme, because at its core Gatorade has been mainly about getting the best out of athletes all across the world.

Just in time for 2015, we will see two formerly elite athletes and enjoy their TV presence over the new year. In their current careers, Jordan’s Charlotte Hornets have looked lost during the early season, but Jeter seems to be doing well with his athlete-run media company. Both should eventually have success in their new professions, because these are two extremely motivated individuals.

We will have to see what kind of reaction this commercial gets, however, keep an eye on what comes next from Gatorade. Who knows what kind of spot they will release after this one, but you can expect it to be just as creative.
