Outside of Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni is the most popular cricketer in India. Sure, sometimes that popularity may come in the form of criticism, but the truth is that Dhoni has done more than his fair share for the national team.

Under Dhoni's captaincy, India have won the title in every format: the No.1 Test ranking for 18 months starting December 2009, the 50-over World Cup in 2011 and the World Twenty20 on his captaincy debut in 2007.

What makes Dhoni's legacy potentially even larger than Tendulkar's is the finances.

He passed Tendulkar as the highest-earning Indian sportsman. He doesn't bring negative attention upon himself off the field and as a result, makes huge dollars through advertisements.
