Boxing legend Manny Pacquiao is willing to give the fans what they want, which is the long awaited fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and him. The only problem is Mayweather, who is the one who named May 2 for the fight, refuses to commit after Pacquiao agreed to the date. For obvious reasons, Pacquiao has decided to take to social media to show confidence in his ability to defeat Mayweather.

The following is a series of tweets by Pacquiao essentially playfully taunting Mayweather:

The key point to Pacquiao’s tweets, other than the fact that he is clearly antagonizing Mayweather, is that he is directing the tweets towards his boxing counterpart. That means even if Mayweather somehow ignores what is being said in the media, he is definitely receiving the information on his own Twitter feed.

Pacquiao would love nothing more than to give the boxing world what they deserve. However, he has also insisted he will move on from fighting Mayweather if Mayweather refuses to agree to the May 2 bout.

“My promoter and I, we’ve already agreed to the terms and conditions of whatever he wants. We’re just waiting on the signed contract from him,” Pacquiao said Monday, according to the Los Angeles Times. “That’s the hard part — if they will fight or not. We have to know soon, because if they will not fight, we can move on and choose another opponent. We have a deadline … this month.”

Considering Mayweather is undefeated in his career, it is hard to imagine he will turn down the fight of the century. With that said, Pacquiao will easily be the hardest opponent of his career, despite the fight happening three to five years too late. Still, I will take Pacquiao versus Mayweather in their current states than not at all, even if they are no longer in their prime.
