Scotland enters the 2015 Cricket World Cup still looking for its first-ever World Cup victory. In 1999 and 2007, Scotland earned eigh defeats.

In the past, they have had to go up against Australia; this time around, the opening match will be against a much easier New Zealand team.

One of the biggest assets Scotland has is that its players are just not very well-known internationally. This factor, essentially leading to opponents unable to scout Scotland properly, could lead them to their first victory.

Keep an eye on Preston Mommsen, who provides much power in Scotland’s middle-order. Confirmed as the team’s captain, Mommsen has an unbeated century already recorded in the World Cup Qualifier.

This is a list of the Scotland squad for the 2015 Cricket World Cup to be held from February 14 to March 29, 2015:

  • Richie Berrington

  • Kyle Coetzer (vice-capt)

  • Freddie Coleman

  • Matthew Cross (wk)

  • Josh Davey

  • Alasdair Evans

  • Hamish Gardiner

  • Majid Haq

  • Michael Leask

  • Matt Machan

  • Calum MacLeod

  • Preston Mommsen (capt)

  • Safyaan Sharif

  • Rob Taylor
  • Iain Wardlaw

According to BBC Sport, “teams were required to name a 30-man provisional squad before finalising a 15-strong squad for the competition by 7 January. Injured players can only be replaced with special dispensation from the International Cricket Council.”
