United Arab Emirates enters the 2015 Cricket WOrld Cup after not having been at the tournament for nearly two decades. UAE made its lone showing at the 1996 tournament.

UAE bowed out of the 1996 edition defeating Netherlands by seven wickets to end its campaign on a positive note, recording its only win in World Cups.

“I think that in 1996, no one took the UAE as seriously as they do today,” said UAE coach Aqib Javed. “There was only limited exposure to the world. People weren’t sure how good UAE cricket was. But now, people have seen UAE playing at different levels, and I think we can surprise a few people and a few teams.”

This is a list of the UAE squad for the 2015 Cricket World Cup to be held from February 14 to March 29, 2015:

  • Mohammed Tauqir (capt)

  • Muhammad Naveed

  • Nasir Aziz

  • Roshan Mustafa

According to BBC Sport, “teams were required to name a 30-man provisional squad before finalising a 15-strong squad for the competition by 7 January. Injured players can only be replaced with special dispensation from the International Cricket Council.”
