Scoring centuries is the pinnacle of performance when it comes to cricket. A century not only shows dominance, but also gives a certain insight into a batsman’s longevity.

Sachin Tendulkar’s name at the top of the list almost incites a feeling of collective arrogance from sports fans in India. Arrogance, not because Tendulkar is better, which of course he is, but rather because his impact on the game spanned so many decades that it is just assumed Tendulkar will be at the top of the list.

While his 6 100s may not be blowing anyone out of the competition, the total runs in fewer matches than No. 2 Ricky Ponting shows Tendulkar’s knack to not just play well, but to dominate.

Fans currently following the 2015 World Cup are in for a treat with South Africa’s AB De Villiers, who already has 3 centuries in just 15 World Cup matches. Keep an eye on him as he continues his ascent up the rankings of top batsmen in cricket history.
