So it appears there’s more to this Britt McHenry parking lot attendant story than meets the eye.

A video was leaked on Thursday portraying McHenry as an entitled brat who threw her job, education and looks in the face of a parking lot attendant for a towing company. However, Yahoo! Sports did some investigating into the matter and found that the company has some serious issues of its own.

According to the Yelp page for Advanced Towing Arlington, the towing company has a sleazy history that includes going to extreme measures to make some easy money. In one situation, they towed a car with a dog in it. Here are some more examples:

In numerous reviews, the lady behind the desk (referred to as MK) was rude and avoided answering people’s questions. The actual folks who drive the tow trucks are foul-mouthed, sketchy and go to any lengths necessary to take cars. Pretty much, this company is scum.

Of their 91 reviews on Yelp, 80 are 1 Star, two are 2 Stars, two are 3 Stars and five are Five Stars (of those five, two were posted today by trolls).

I will say that McHenry was still in the wrong, regardless of the events that transpired. Reports indicate that the company claims she left her car in the parking lot of a Chinese restaurant two hours after closing. The video shows events that transpired when she went to pick up her car, but if they were as sleazy as they were with previous victims, it’s easy to understand McHenry’s frustration. And who knows what was said before the footage we’ve seen — it was clearly edited, which gives us good reason to believe that MK had some comments of her own that weren’t included.

As a recognizable face, it’s McHenry’s job to keep her cool. The fact that this company is a cesspool doesn’t excuse her actions, but it certainly makes it a little better. It might also be part of why ESPN only suspended her for one week.
