The National League Champion New York Mets and the American League Champion Kansas City Royals will play in the 2015 World Series. The World Series opens at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri home of the KC Royals, Tuesday night at 7:07 PM.  The Royals haven’t won a World Series since 1985 and the Mets haven’t won a World Series since 1986.  Both teams are hungry to win it all again.  The NY Mets are a slight favorite to win the series at most sportsbooks ranging from -110 to -125 (bet $110 to win $100), while the Royals can be found from +105 to -110.  I should disclose that I do live in Kansas City.  This should be a great World Series for the fans as both teams play very sound baseball.

The Mets have a stellar starting rotation with Matt Harvey, Jacob DeGrom, and Noah Syndergaard as their top three. They are all fireballers that have had no playoff experience before this year.  That being said they have looked awfully good in the postseason thus far.  Fourth starter rookie Steven Matz had only six major league starts before the playoffs.  In total the four starters have had only 147 career regular season starts, the fewest by a long ways of any World Series team.  The Mets bullpen may be an issue until they get to the closer Jeurys Familia.  He saved five games in the playoffs and didn’t allow a run in eight innings. The Mets have little postseason experience among their starting nine.  David Wright 3B was with the Mets the last time they were in the playoffs in 2006.  It was his third season and he has waited a long time to get back.  He has been injured and out for four months this year. Outfielder Yoenis Cespedes has been in the postseason a couple of times with Oakland and fellow OF Curtis Granderson has made quite a few postseason appearances.  Second baseman Daniel Murphy has apparently sold his soul to the devil as he has now homered in six straight postseason games and he will be relied upon to stay hot.  The Mets are good defensively as well though probably not as good as the Royals.
