Marathoner Moninda Marube Outruns Pair of Black Bears in Maine

By Anthony Blake

The saying of “run like your life depends on it” can be overused in a competitive setting, but the mindset certainly comes in handy when it has a literal meaning.

Professional marathon runner Moninda Marube was out for a training run in Maine when two black bears gave chase after him.

Marube ran to a nearby house and took refuge in a screened in porch.

The bears pawed at the door but eventually gave up and moved on, leaving him free to go back to his daily run.

As if he would want to!
