CFL Kick Return TD Called Back on Penalty Costs Fan $1 Million Payday

The Canadian Football League (CFL) has several distinctively different characteristics that separate it from its American counterpart in the NFL, but horrible officiating isn’t one of them.

And this gaffe in the Toronto Argonauts vs. Winnipeg Blue Bombers game cost Karen Kuldys $1 million.

The Bombers’ Ryan Lankford started the game with a 105-yard return for touchdown, so Kuldys only needed one more in the game to win the grand prize as part of the Safeway/Sobeys $1,000,000 Touchdown To Win contest.

Then the Argonauts’ Martese Jackson took the above kick to the house in the second quarter, but the penalty nullified Kuldys’ shot at $1 million.

Though she and her family still won a $25,000 entertainment system, it’s gotta sting to be so close to the big bucks and have it snatched away by a terrible referee.
