Roger Federer Narrowly Escapes Five-Set Scare in First Round of US Open

Coming into his first-round matchup with Roger Federer, it seems safe to say that not many fans had any hope for Frances Tiafoe even making things interesting.

But making them interesting was secondary on his mind, as the 19-year-old from the United States pushed a legend to the brink.

But after the struggles mentally and physically against Tiafoe, Federer still managed to put a positive spin on things.

It’s been a turn-back-the-clock year for the now 19-time Grand Slam champion in 2017.

He’s hoping it can continue with another title in New York over the next couple of weeks.
