NBA Owners and Players Reach Tentative Agreement to End Lockout
Douglas Jones-US PRESSWIRE

Common sense finally paid off.  After months of posturing and negotiations, the NBA owners and players have reached an agreement to end the NBA lockout.  If the deal is approved, the season will tip off on Christmas Day.  Training camps will open December 9th.

Of course, there are still some hurdles.  The NBPA must reform before voting and the majority of players and owners need to be on board.  However, I feel that most of the people involved just want to get back to basketball.  The season will consist of 66 games, which might be a blessing in disguise.  Many fans complain about the length of the season, so this can only help.

I’m glad that common sense prevailed.  The NBA was coming off its best season since Jordan retired and they looked poised to throw it all away.  A lot of the details on the agreement have not been released yet, but I believe the owners won this deal by a lot.

I will have more on this in the coming days, but NBA fans everywhere can rejoice.  Basketball is back and it’s going to be on heck of an offseason once it starts.  Free agency will be fast and furious and so will the games.
