Ricky Rubio Impresses In NBA Debut
The Ricky Rubio experience had a roaring debut on Monday night. Although Oklahoma City managed to outlast the Timberwolves 104-1oo, the young point guard from Spain impressed in his 26 minutes. Rubio had 6 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists off the bench.
Luke Ridnour got the start at point guard, but I don’t expect that to last long. Once Rubio gets more adjusted to the league, he should start. He was on the floor during crunch time and handled the ball masterfully. No turnovers in 26 minutes is impressive for any point guard, but it’s unheard of for a rookie.
The most impressive part to Rubio’s debut was his poise. He never was rattled. He makes passing look effortless and is destined to average 10+ assists per season. It was just a smooth performance all around.
Of course, one game does not make a season or a career. Rubio had a great start but how will he respond to the rookie wall? This compacted season will bring rise to new challenges that he’s never faced.
Rubio will become a must-watch player for NBA junkies everywhere by mid-season, if not earlier. Take a look at the young star in action. You won’t be disappointed.
