Top 5 Best Teams in NBA Right Now

Top 5 Best Teams in NBA Right Now

Most teams have played five to seven games so far in this young NBA season and it is already easy to see who has what it takes to win. Players are making names for themselves and teams are laying the ground work to make the postseason.

The following are the five best teams in the NBA right now:

5. Philadelphia 76ers (3-2)

- The Philadelphia 76ers are one of the biggest surprises so far this season. They rank third in the NBA with 102.6 points per game and average ten more points than they allow (92.8).  They are also third in the league shooting 48.2% from the field and sixth making 40% from behind the arc. The 76ers are an athletic team that will be able to out hustle most opponents which will give them a huge advantage in many games this season.

4. Portland Trailblazers (4-1)

- The Portland Trailblazers are another surprise this season. The Trailblazers rank fourth in the league with 102 points per game and third with 47.2 rebounds. LaMarcus Aldridge leads the team in scoring, averaging 22.2 points per game, while Marcus Camby averages 9.4 rebounds. They have already had three impressive wins over the 76ers, Denver Nuggets and Oklahoma City Thunder. Portland has good depth and talent to be a contender in the Western Conference come playoff time. They will be able to coast under the radar for most of the season which makes them a dangerous team.

3. Denver Nuggets (5-2)

- The Denver Nuggets have had the hardest schedule to start the season and have come back with five victories while posting a 4-0 record at home. They had big wins over the Dallas Mavericks on the road and Los Angeles Lakers at home. The Nuggets are second in the NBA in scoring with 103.3 points per game but no one on the team averages more than 17 points a night. Ty Lawson leads the charge in his second season with 16.7 points and 2.6 steals per game. Denver plays with high-energy and speed that most teams don’t have the depth to cover.

2. Chicago Bulls (6-1)

- Derrick Rose leads the team in scoring with 20.9 points per game but the Chicago Bulls are ninth in the league with 97.1 points. He also averages 8.6 assists per game which is good for seventh in the league. The season started out with an incredible win over the Lakers on Christmas Day and other big victories include at Los Angeles Clippers and at home against the Atlanta Hawks. The main reason why the Bulls have only lost one game this season is because they allow an impressive 86.6 points per game, second in the NBA. The Bulls are also fifth in rebounds and assists per game. Chicago is playing outstanding defense especially when it comes down to closing out games, which is a big reason why they went deep into the playoffs last season.

1. Miami Heat (6-1)

- It really shouldn’t be a surprise that the Miami Heat are the best team so far this season. With the culmination of amazing talent, teamwork and the loss in the NBA Finals earlier last year, the Heat are on a mission to conquer everyone that stands in their way. They lead the league in scoring with 108.3 points per game and LeBron James leads all players with 29.9. Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade are also pulling their weight with 18.9 and 18.8 points per game respectively. They crushed Dallas and Boston while their only loss came to Atlanta, a team that is primed to make another postseason run this year. Rookie point guard Norris Cole has been a pleasant surprise averaging 11.4 points and 3.4 assists per game as he has split time with Mario Chalmers. There is no doubt the Heat will make a lot of noise in the playoffs again this season and if there are no major injuries, expect to see them back in the NBA Finals.
